Hello my friends, another wonderful day today in the life of Bernie....it was cool and cloudy today but the weather didn't stop me from enjoying a super Saturday.
This morning I went to breakfast at Tim's with my neighbour. The place was packed and everyone chatted with everyone, it was like we all were there together. We talked hockey, football, golf and the weather. Their were a couple of comedian's in the house cracking jokes about everything.....I found my stomach sore from laughing.
When I came home I read my paper and spent quite a while on my computer. I'm beginning to wonder if I need a new laptop as I find this one quite slow. It is 2 years old but I was hoping to get another year out of it....I will wait a while and see how it goes.
Later Terri called me and we talked 90 minutes, didn't even realize that much time had passed, we are really looking forward to our friends arriving on Oct 2 and going to her home to celebrate her birthday. I know it will be a good time.
I should of done a few chores around here but instead when my neighbor rang my door bell and said "I'm going into the city, do you want to go shopping".....I was there!
I had just cleaned out my purse, scarves and glove drawers and only gave them to charity yesterday and today I bought a lovely grey croc purse with matching gloves. They are really pretty. I wanted to take a picture to show you but something is wrong with my camera, when I turn it on it shows F18 at the bottom of the screen and turns itself off....I can't find the book that came with it so I will have to stop into the camera shop when I am back in the city on Monday. I think I have turned a button on it that I shouldn't have.....aways something!
Handyman didn't show today nor did he call but I refused to sit around and wait for him today. He will be here when he gets here. Terry said not to worry about it, she thinks we can put them up together when she comes into Morinville. If he doesn't show up before then, then we will do it. I should say she will do it, I will hand her the electric screwdriver, and whatever else she needs, I'm really good at that.
Went to Mass tonight, and found it comforting as I lit my candle and said my prayers. I had so many prayers of thanks today.....I love those kind of prayers instead of me always asking for something. Oh I did have another wonderful day.
Tonight I had a soothing lavender bubble bath, lit a fire in the fireplace and am now watching an old movie I have seen many times before. The Mirror has Two Faces with Barbara Streisand and Jeff Bridges, it's a good movie.
Today wasn't as quiet and serene as yesterday but oh it was a happy day, I laughed a lot, spent time with friends and people I didn't even know and I had fun! Laughter is so good for the soul, mind, and even the stomach.....in fact I think it's good for everything!
Good Night and God Bless my friends, I am sending you all many, many hugs....:-)

Yay for you, Bernie! I love days like that, when you don't feel guilty for doing something for yourself! Sounds like you've been enjoying your life, and that's a very good thing. Thanks for your sweet comment on my post today.
Blessings,
Mary
Hugs received from you Bernie...and gratefully so. It is wonderful to pull up your blog and read your posts. I smiled as I read about your glove drawer and your scarves drawer. I don't have either (gloves or scarves)...so two less drawers for me to clean. It sounds like you had such a great day...topped off with a lovely lavendar bath...uhmmm...I love the smell of lavendar. When we go to the mountains, it is the second thing I notice (the first being the majesty of the mountains.) That smell of lavendar brings back happy memories. As you rest, I hope you know I am thinking of you. Blessings to you, my dear friend. I always have a smile for you...I receive so many from you, too.
Love,
Jackie
It makes me feel calm to read about your lovely day. My life is not hectic, but sometimes, with as many children and grands we have, things happen that make for worrisome times.
I can't get over that handy man. Maybe he has a reasonable explanation. Enjoy your blessed Sunday.
QMM
Good morning Bernie...I hope your stomach muscles recuperated overnight from all that hardy laughter at Tim's yesterday.
Maybe your handyman is sick...is he the same one that let your deck furniture fall on the road when delivering it to you...that was funny.
It hasn't been cool enough for a fire yet, but that is something I look forward to...of course it is a lot of work to keep a fire burning continuously for additional heating. Herhusband does that in the fieplace in the basement...it has a stove insert for that purpose. At least the mess isn't upstairs.
Have another great day Bernie, either serene, productive or laughter filled...we need a little of each to feel our best.
Smiles Always,
Wanda
Hi Bernie and happy Sunday to you -
Oh such a lovely day indeed. I so enjoy your stories of meals shared and times with friends, times of prayers for asking and for thanking, your "come what may" attitude about the 'handy man' and also when you "take a stand" you are unshakable and I love it. And a fire and a movie? Nothing better!!
Love to you my friend
Gail
peace.....
Hi Bernie,
Writing this on Iphone traveling from airport in MN to UP of. MI. Read all the posts I missed. Glad you're having some relaxing days - enjoy your lovely fall weather! Glad Lucy is home!
Keep laughing!
Another nice post, Bernie! I love the sound of your gray purse and matching gloves and I can't wait to see them!
And that reminds me that I need to go through my gloves, hats, scarves, and purses and get rid of the ones I hardly use. I'm really trying to pare down because this house is way too crowded and way too cluttered.
I'm glad you had another nice day and treated yourself to friends, and fun, and shopping, you deserve it! And the bath, fire, and movie sound wonderful too.
And I think it's wonderful that your friend Terri is so handy! What fun to do projects together!
Love you, Eileen

Hi Bernie,
I loved , "The Mirror Has Two Faces" Good movie. I watched " Lions for Lambs" the other night, excellent movie. Robert Redford, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep. Very good acting but it made me cry!
So I guess your handyman ain't to handy anymore!!
So glad that you are having a good weekend Bernie after all that went one last week!
Love Di
Hi Di, my sweet friend, I was answering your other comment when this came in. No my handy man is only handy when he wants to be...it's okay as I know eventually my verticals will be hung and look great when they are done. I also love Lions with the Lambs....I don't think we can ever find good movies like some of those old ones. Luv ya.....Hugs
It sounds like you are finding your own way in the world and that your life is good! Blessings upon you! I'm glad you can laugh!
I am so happy to hear you had a wonderful day today. :)
Much Love,
Silver
Kathie, at one time I wasn't quite sure where I fit in this world after my husband and son passed, but I slowly made my way one day at a time and yes I have now found my niche and live life to the fullest. I have been blessed and so love and enjoy my new life.
Have a great day my friend....Hugs
Silver it is great to laugh especially those deep down belly laughs. Life is good my friend, wishing you a wonderful day..Hugs
I so relate to your feelings in this post. We spent the weekend with my brother and his wife and an old friend of mine and his girlfriend hiking on a desolate path along Lake Superior rugged shores. We laughed, we ate and we all got sore together from the long hike. And the weather was perfect. I have never seen more beauty in one spot of wilderness. I will post the pictures soon on my blog...but the other beauty of being with people you care about and who care about you cannot be measured. It made me whole and alive and loving life.
