A Drive in the Country

Hello my friends, I hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day holiday. I want to thank all of you for your encouragement and advice from my post last night. What was surprising to me was I received almost as many e-mails on my subject as I did comments, all had the same theme, everyone agreed it was time that I moved away from this person....felt so much better about my decision to move on after hearing from all of you.

My day, though unplanned, was wonderful. When I woke up this morning it was cool and raining....I was slow moving due to the dampness and that was okay as I was in no hurry to do anything anyway. So I wrote and answered e-mails, as I drank my coffee before reading my daily newspaper. Then I had a friend call me and suggest we go for a drive this afternoon.....I absolutely love going for a drive when I can just sit back, relax and be a passenger. So I busied myself getting ready for an afternoon of bliss and it was.

We didn't drive on any highways, we took old country roads and even though it was cloudy it had stopped raining and the scenery was beautiful. Fall was in the air, and the trees are just beginning to change color.....not a lot, just enough to remind us of the impending season. I saw beautiful old farms making ready for winter, gardens which had recently held fresh vegetables were now empty and made huge brown patches on a carpet of green. The animals were grouped together under trees, large bales of hay were being placed in barns for winter feed, tarps were placed over large pieces of machinery and I soaked in all the sights and sounds like a sponge. We drove for a couple of hours before we stopped and had a wonderful meal of fish and chips. I enjoyed a cup of tea with apple pie and ice cream for dessert. It was delicious.

Relaxing as a passenger with a full tummy made me sleepy and it was all I could do to keep from falling asleep on our drive home. I felt wonderful. I wish I could of taken that calm beautiful feeling and bottled share with all those I love.

We have had so many intense thunder/lightening storms these past few days. Strange how we went from record breaking hot days to all changed so quickly.

I am feeling so much better after weeks of antibiotics, and much arthritic pain perhaps that is why I appreciated my wonderful day today. Let's pray Tuesday will be just as wonderful.......

Am off to read my favorite blogs and comments, Good Night and God Bless and as always
.......many, many hugs.........:-)

Your description of the drive was SO good that I almost felt it was me who was being driven around. After the rains the flora and fauna just come to life and it is SO refreshing!! I went on a drive similar to yours and felt SO good. I can completely relate to how good you felt.

Wishing you another day which is pain free and even better than yesterday :)

Don't worry Bernie, you were right in your decision. Always with you. Right through!

Stillness, I had such a beautiful day....I am still feeling refreshed from it, so glad you enjoyed it with me.
Luv you......:-) Hugs

Looks like the drive out was a wonderful tonic. We are having another taste of summer here in the south east of UK, but I think your sister in Scotland may be experiencing some high wind and rain. I love these extra summer days, that come after an autumnal spell... but we know the autumn is coming no matter what.
Love changing seasons, God has it so well planned out.
Love Granny

How did I miss your previous post...sigh. I don't know. But when I read the beginning of this one today, I went to your previous one and read it.
It was like deja vu to me. I am also posting to someone who seems to have nothing but troubles....and I'm hanging in there right now. I noticed that there is very little positive in this person's blog....every once in a while something will be positive, but it is mostly negative...pitiful....and I find myself being pulled in the direction of wondering how much is for attention and how much is actually true. I am thankful for your post...and this afternoon when I get home from work (I'm running a little late right now and haven't had a chance to read your readers' responses) I want to read what others have said in order to help guide me in what to do in this situation. I want to be a friend to those who are friendless, help those that need help, enjoy the friends that are surrounded by friends, smile with my fellow bloggers....and do what Christ would have me to do in all situations. Thank you for posting this. Again, I don't know how I missed it, but I'm glad that I found it this morning. I wish you a very peaceful and happy day. Much love and happiness to you, Bernie. Until later, I leave you with a smile.

I,too, love casual drives on country roads. Glad you had this calming experience shared with a friend.

Re. your previous post, if you live your life guided by God's Word and bathed in prayer, I believe you can trust your "instincts".

I'm off to frost 2 cakes and make a decision whether to serve desserts to my Red Had friends at the restaurant or in my yard.....Still trying to figure out if it's going to rain or not.....

Good morning Bernie...Sounds like a refreshing drive on country roads was just what you needed...
when I was a child it was a form of entertainment parents would bring sandwiches, cookies and fruit and we would head out for the unknown...your drive reminded me so much of them.

With the beautiful farms and fields, changing leaves, getting in firewood for colder weather, kids going back to school, birds's just such a peaceful time of year. Now I'll be watching for those Canadian Geese flying your way!

One more thought on yesterday's post Bernie. It may not be easy for you to ignore her if she comments again, hopefully she won't, but if so maybe consider blocking her. She creates stress, which you don't need!

This is the first morning in years that I haven't helped grandkids off to school, makes me thankful I have blogging friends to take my mind off the change!

Smiles to you Bernie,

Thanks for thinking of me and leaving a comment on my blog. Yes, I have been busy with school. This semester holds lots of reading, research and presentations.

I am glad you had an enjoyable outing. I too, enjoy soaking in all the sites of the countryside. I took a break Saturday night and enjoyed the weather, at a winery with friends.

Take care and have a good week,

Good Morning Bernie,
That's funny, I like to be chauffeured too! I love when Jakes home and he drives. I much prefer looking out the window! So nice that you had a good day. You started me thinking about the apple orchards. We will have to go soon. Katie discovered apple butter and I will have to get her some homemade!
I think that the unplanned days are the best! I hope you have another good one today Bernie! I am going to force myself to go workout this morning!
Love Di

I love those drives on the back roads. Brings back a lot of memories when I drive the old roads. Having been living in this same area all my life it is fun to see how things change. Glad things are looking up with the RA. and the other situation.

Hi Bernie,
Glad you had a wonderful day. Sometimes the best times are the unplanned ones. Road trips are always so refreshing and peaceful. The picture made me feel like I was riding along with you.
Enjoy your day.
Take care.

Hi Bernie, I also took a drive in the country this weekend, it was glorious, on Saturday. I agree we have had some pretty strange weather, and on Sunday night my power went out for 3 hours. It was so dark and the only thing I had for light was the moon. I had candles, but could not find any matches. So, I ended up just going to bed and enjoying the stillness and calm quietness.

Glad you are feeling better and you had such a nice drive.

I SO enjoyed riding with you in the country. Such a lovely day you had and a delicious meal. I know that content feeling you want to 'bottle' and share. It is so wonderful. And your written images of the changing seasons made me feel such excitement. "Thank you" And Bernie I answered you a lengthy reply over at my place about the discovery walk. :-)

Love you

Granny, It was a wonderful tonic. So glad you are having nice weather as you are right my sister is having tons of rain...Scotland can be so cold and damp and her with arthritis, I don't know how she does it. I love the season changes as well...I could never live in a place that had the same weather all the time. Have a great day Granny......:-) Hugs

Hi Jackie, perhaps my post hadn't shown up on your reader, that happens to me when I go to one of my favortie blogs and notice more than one post....I always feel so bad when that happens.
Slow down sweetie, you can't be all things to all people....(you live with yourself a long time so be all things to you first)
Have a great day my friend....Hugs

Bernie said...

Rebecca, did you have the ladies over for cake or did it rain?
I think intuition is something one must listen too, I have had several experiences with this and I pray on it everytime for a resolution of peace.
Have a great day my friend, enjoy your friends........:-) Hugs

Good Morning Wanda, I think that is why I love going for drives, it reminds me of doing that with my parents.....I really enjoy not having to drive so much.
Wanda I couldn't believe how many people she has contacted...I thought it was only me but I had so many people e-mail me...they didn't want her to read their comments or have any of her negativity around them...I heard those two things many times. She hasn't commented back and I don't think she is bold enough too, if she does I will block her or report her to an administrator. I don't feel to many people want to bother with sad Wanda that there are these kind of people in the world.
Oh I feel bad as you are adjusting to another change in your life, you are so blessed as you know those beautiful grandchildren will be over after school for a snack...
Have a great day my friend.... will e-mail you later......:-) Hugs

Sandy, so good to hear from you, and I am happy that all is going well with you enjoying school and your friends. Stay well my friend we have missed you.....:-) Hugs

Hi Diana, we passed an apple orchard and there were many people picking apples....never had apple butter but I bet it would taste really good on toast or muffins.
Did you finish your living room? I just have to do something around here today....enjoy your work out, I may go as well later on.
Have a great day......:-) Hugs

A/C, that drive was a good thing and I know you understand how relaxing farmland can be.
Have a great day......:-) Hugs

QMM, yes the RA is giving me a break and finally the infection has cleared up....what a wonderful break it is.
You are blessed to have been able to stay in the same area over the years, at one time I thought it exciting to move around and see other parts of the country but now that I'm older I am looking forward to moving back to my birthplace to be closer to my siblings, friends and just being home.
Have a great day......:-) Hugs

Hi Choices, I didn't take the picture on top of my post I borrowed it off the net....but the roads I saw yesterday were very much like this. I had a wonderful day, so relaxing and calming....just loved it.
Have a great day.....:-) Hugs

Hi Terri, you are sounding so much better these past few weeks, I am so happy for you. I hope you enjoyed your drive as much as I did, I loved it so.
I have been getting frustrated setting clocks on appliances and clocks period with the power going out so often lately....
you should keep a little case with somewhere with a flashlight, candles, matches, a bottle of water you know things like that for when a storm hits your area. Then at least you could read, but your quiet night sounds relaxing as well. Have a great day my friend....:-) Hugs

Bernie said...

Hi Gail, oh it was such a beautiful day and it wasn't even sunny....a day when everything just came together.
I will be over a little later and thank you......:-) Hugs

Hi cinnear, have you found your little dog, first thing I thought of this morning.
Yes I have resolved that situation in my heart and will not give it any more of my energy.
I will pop over to check and see about your dog soon......:-) Hugs

Hi Bernie, The description of your relaxing drive was like a beautiful painting depicting fall. I, too, am seeing the changes all around me now - the grasses are turning golden and red in the forest and the aspens (which are quaking now in the breeze) are more golden with each passing day. I long for summer after a hard winter, but fall has a special beauty all its own.

I am going to look into whether people can actually be blocked from a blog. I have a person who comes onto my site 4-5 times a day and never has left a comment. I do have friends around the country who visit and don't comment, but I recognize the city where they live and welcome them - sometimes they send me E-mails since they don't have Google accounts. However, this person is not a known friend because I don't recognize the town name. Unfortunately, I feel uneasy by the amount of time this person spends monitoring my blog without comment. I am so predictable with my posting - mostly on Mondays and Thursdays - why would anyone need to check my blog daily and so many times?

Bernie said...

Donnie, oh how you must miss long drives and fish & chips....but then there are many things to do in Rio that I can't do in Canada.
Have a great day my young friend.
Many hugs.......:-)

Bernie said...

Hi Barb, my most favorite season is Fall, always has been.
I'm not sure why anyone would go to your site so many times and not leave a is strange. I know you can block followers or other bloggers but you have to know who they are first. Good Luck and let me know how you make out ok. Have a great day.....:-) Hugs

You day sounds wonderful and I am glad you had a pain free day. It is not often that happens with arthritis. I love long drives in the fall. We have so many wonderful, colorful woods around here. The golds, oranges and reds are so wonderful.

Bernie: I have had a terrible time loading and reading your posts and leaving comments. I have been trying most of the night. I hope it is on my end and not yours. It seems when the music is trying to load after I get your posts up it gets hung up and takes forever and I couldn't even leave comments on your last three posts. But now I have read them all and am caught up and can finally get through. I was dying to comment on the last post about the lady showing up again. She did the same on my blog and left a comment that she has a new blog with a new name. I just left one civil comment back, but I will NOT go and visit her blog and get sucked up into her drama again. I agree with you wholeheartedly that she needs professional help and NOW. I have no doubt that she has borderline personality disorder, and I feel bad for her and her family. But I cannot help anyone who will not help themselves, nor will I correspond with her any longer. If I get comments, I will block them from now on and if they continue, I will report her to Blogpost. I am so sorry you got to worrying again about her. Just dismiss her from your mind and don't give it another thought. Those kind of people prey on others with golden hearts. We fell for it once, but we will not twice.
I have missed reading you every day and am so glad I got caught up with you. I still have not read all of my favorite blogs yet and am behind in many for about a week. I haven't even had time to post on my own blog, either...but we have had gorgeous weather here and I have been outside all day as much as possible because I know in a few short weeks we will not be able to get out on our lake due to the cold coming. Thanks so much for commenting on my blog when I have been able to post. I look forward to your blog and posts every day that I get to get them or read them.
Take it easy on the fall cleaning, I worry about you and your R.A. and you overdoing it.
Take care, and I hope to get back to routine soon! LOL

I love drives like that, Bernie! And your whole day sounded wonderful!

You know, Bernie, life is too short to get bogged down or to let others pull you in that direction. I'm not saying you shouldn't reach out to others, but, Bernie, you did, you tried, you have such a good heart, and I believe you did all you could. Sometimes we just have to face the fact that there is no way for us to help, no more for us to do, and move on.
You've faced it. Don't second guess yourself now. Think positive. Be positive. Surround yourself with positive.
Too bad that other blogger can't do that, or maybe she can, just not yet.
But I don't think there is anymore that you can do for this person and to continue a relationship might only serve to bring you down.

I'm glad you lived in the positive today!
Beautiful post! I loved reading it!
Love you!, Eileen

Joan, I couldn't believe how many e-mails and comments I received on this person.....I am not going to give her any of energy anymore. I will pray for her but that is all I can offer at this time, and all I want too.

Take care my friend...Luv ya :-) Hugs
