No Point In Complaining

Hello my friends, I really, really hope wherever you are reading this from that you are enjoying sunshine and warm weather. My little corner of the planet is freezing. I think we have made Mother Nature mad at us, so now she is getting even. They are calling for frost again tonight, we did escape it last night so I am keeping my fingers crossed again, my poor flowers and tomato plants have been battling the elements for two days now.

I set my alarm to get up early this morning as I wanted to watch the Women's final at the French Open. It started at 7am so I was up at 6:30 to take my insulin and have my breakfast before it started. By the time it came on I had a fire going in my fireplace, drinking a cup of coffee, feeling so cozy and I know this is not a nice thing to say but it was a horrible match. I felt so sorry for Safrina who completely lost control of her nerves. I think even I could of beat the number one seed today. Oh well, I get to do it all over again tomorrow to watch the men play. Looking forward to a better game.

It wasn't a complete waste of time really as I did 20 minutes of exercise on my gazelle then spent time on my computer which I normally don't do during the mornings.
Curves is only open on Saturday until noon and closed on Sunday's. It was raining and cold so thought it best to stay home, but not for very long as it turned out.

My friend called and we decided to go shopping this afternoon in St. Albert. Every where we went people were grumbling and complaining about the weather. They were to say the least cranky. I made a silent promise to myself not to complain anymore about our weather, it doesn't do anyone any good and I didn't enjoy seeing or hearing how miserable everyone was. It's strange how we let the weather decide if we are going to be happy or if we are to have a nice day....Way to much power to give away to the weather my friends, I know I will tell you about the kind of weather we are having, but you all have my permission too tell me to be quiet if I start complaining instead of sharing OK. (I wonder if I can keep the promise to myself)LOL

I picked up a couple of Christmas gifts when I was out, The Gap had a sale on and I have a couple of little ones I buy for each year. I have put them in gift bags and wrote the tags, they are tucked away in my gift cupboard. This is early even for me but I usually do start in September. I am not a fan of the last minute rush.

We went out for supper and I had the most delicious salmon dinner with brown rice. Oh it was good and so were the steamed mixed vegetables. I worked too hard last week to loose 2 lbs., so stayed within my available calories. I enjoyed the meal and conversation with my friend, it helped to make a lovely day even better.

This evening I watched the hockey game and finished my novel. Now I have just had my lavender bubble bath and am tucked in for the night. I am looking forward to church tomorrow at noon service as the little children are receiving their first communion.
It is so special to me to watch their little faces in awe and see them so excited, dressed in their finest clothes. I always enjoy this day every year. It will be fun.

Am off to read my favorite blogs and comments.....Have a great Sunday my friends.

Good Night and God Bless......:-) Hugs

You're right - I HAD sunshine (it was still cool though) and it was lovely. By late afternoon, sun had gone behind clouds. We may have rain to drive home in.....

Keep up the exercise....What is a gazelle??? Your diligence is motivational to me.

Good morning Bernie...Your mentioning of the coldness never comes across as complaining...the mornings here are chilly...but that makes yard work easier.

Baked Salmon, wild rice, and baked squash is one my most favorite meal...Grandson Andrew loves Salmon too!...

Alivia had 6 little friends at her party...Although we live in a small town...it does have a rather large school district...but still some of our grandchildren have become good friends at school with grandchildren of people we were friends with...they seem to find each other on their own!

My comments to you are always more like a conversation than a comment Bernie...sorry to go on sometimes.

I did give the spider a new home...so I hope to do some reading outside today...Enjoy your Sunday Bernie.
Smile and take care...Wanda

Thank you for your prayers yesterday, Bernie. I know they helped as I got through the day without being a constant 'waterfall'...actually, the roughest part of the day was when I called my oldest daughter in the morning, then a little bit at the Mass I had said for Mario.

Remember, you can always cover your plants with plastic and/or paper when frost threatens. It works and we do it down here too.

Will pray for some nicer weather for you today at Mass. You are right that we do let the weather control our outlooks far more than we ever should...bravo for you, that you don't let it do that!!

blessings and hugs,

marcy

Thank you for your kind comments on my blog, Bernie!

We have a cold, rainy day in My Muskoka.

I believe I am losing it. I recently found several 1st birthday & anniversary cards tucked away for various occasions. I keep forgetting that I have been buying them ahead of time. Oh my...shop till you drop!

Well, you may be having horrible weather, but your post sounds so sunny!
I love your upbeat attitude!

I think your early gift shopping and gift cupboard are a wonderful idea! I'm going to 'copy cat' you. Thanks for sharing that.
I too hate waiting for the last minute. And I do buy ahead of time, but unfortunately I put the gift away and forget that I bought it! But if I wrap and tag it right away and keep all gifts together in a special place I can finally have a little organization in my life.
Thank you, Bernie!

So glad you had a nice day shopping, and then dinner with your friend in spite of the weather. And you are so right about how the weather affects our moods, I heard that is why the Swedes are so depressed, long winters and lots of darkness. 'Wish we could all have your attitude about it.

Good luck to your new plants! Keep us updated.
All the best,
Eileen

My goodness...you started your Christmas shopping already????
I am so amazed by you!
I usually start in the beginning of November to have it done by Thanksgiving here so I can give the gifts to my daughter when we visit each other then.
This year, we think we will go to my other daughter's house in Florida for Xmas to be in the warmth...which will be great.
But I can't even think that far ahead YET.
I am just waiting for summer.
I agree that complaining about the cold weather is negative thinking and I should do less of it too.
I just long so badly for the warm sun on my face as I sit outside...

Good Morning Bernie, Sorry about your weather. I try not to let it bother me,if it's yucky outside I just take advantage and do things inside! Several days of cloudy sky's tend to make me sleepy but I actually enjoy rainy days! Weather is just a state of mind right?

You're right about there being no point in complaining about the weather! Seasons change and so do the times. The cold is when we really enjoy all things warm (clothes, food) and when it's warm we enjoy all things cool ( summer dressing, chilled drinks et all). We must learn how to enjoy all seasons and not let it affect us in a bad way. It's again our choice of whether to be grumpy about something we have no control over or go with the flow and enjoy every bit of our journey. Take care Bernie and keep warm!

Hi Bernie,
You are right, no point in complaining, it does not change a thing. Glad you kept within your calories, even with going out for dinner, that is hard to do somethimes. I was overjoyed yesterday when I got below a goal I have had for so long now, it felt so good to finally break that barrier. What is a Gizelle? I am thinking one of those things you jump on. Hope you stay warm and your plants make it through the cold spell! ((((HUGS)))) T

Rebecca, so happy you had sunshine, I do wish you a safe trip home.
A gazelle is like a glider, you use your arms and legs, it is very hard on my left arm (the side of my mastectomy, that is why I enjoy Curves, can enjoy exercise and still protect my arm.
Have a great Sunday.....:-)Hugs

Good Morning Wanda, I don't have the yard work that you have so I can understand how the cooler weather would make it easier.
You have my mouth watering for squash, when I was able to peel and cut one it was my favorite vegetable, I am unable to with my hands now, wonder if they have it in frozen produce.
Alivia's birthday party sounds so cute with her friends.
Love it when you leave comments on my blog Wanda, I look for them each morning. Have a great Sunday my friend.....:-) Hugs

Hi Jenn, thank you for popping over, I use to do that with cards as well, now that I have a special drawer for them, it's the first place I check before card shopping.
Have a wonderful Sunday....:-)Hugs

Hi Eileen, my small gift cupboard has really been a godsend when I need a hostess gift or someone arrives unexpectedly and I need a gift. I keep it full of lotions, powders, soaps, hand towels, just things like that. I started it 5 years ago and have never regretted it.
Have a great Sunday...:-)Hugs

Joan, I have started my Christmas Shopping, I know I need a life. I just couldn't resist the overalls and jumper dress for my best friend's grandchildren. They were so cute and the price was so good.
My flowers have survived so far and I am really enjoying them.
Have a great Sunday my friend....

Terri, so happy that my plants seem to be fine. My Tony Little Gazelle is a glider, it really works well for weight loss but I find it aggravates my left arm (mastectomy)Curves help me to exercise without causing pain to that arm.
It is a good feeling when we set and meet goals, and it's also fun.
Have a great Sunday...:-)Hugs
