Snow Day

Hello my friends, what a day I had today. I woke up this morning to an out and out snow storm. Terry lives 2 1/2 hours north of me so I called her right away as I was worried about the roads....she had already left. About an hour later she called me, the RCMP had stopped her and told her the highway was closed, she had to turn around and go home. By this time she was closer to my home than her own but they wouldn't let her through, she passed many cars in the ditch and 2 accidents. She doesn't mind driving in the snow, but didn't like having to turn around on the slippery highway. She called me after she was home safe and sound and I was so relieved. She told me the weather was much worse heading north and Bonnyville was having a blizzard by the time she drove into her garage. I promised her I would still keep my appointment this afternoon and would call her when I got home. It was only 10:30 and my appointment wasn't until 3. I was already showered and dressed for the day as we had planned on going out for lunch with a friend and then to Costco.

I enjoyed my morning coffee by the fireplace reading my newspaper. Actually it was a nice day as I was able to watch golf, baseball and hockey. Tonight my eyes are shaped like squares.....am waiting for Grey's Anatomy to come on, I love that show.

The snow stopped by early afternoon but I still had to clean my car off before I drove into the city. There were many cars in the ditch on the highway, must of been from early this morning. It was -7 and the wind was cold but the highway was melting and clear. Winter has come so early this year.

This was my car about 3 hours after the snow had stopped. I am hoping the weather is good tomorrow as I have to drive into the city for my cortisone shot....Unlike Terry I don't like driving in the snow.

Not much to report from my appointment, I need a cat scan, MRI and some kind of scope )sorry I don't know how to pronounce the name of it) but it's to check the bladder, liver and pelvic area. They want to find the source of infection before treating me.....are you ready for this, I have been put back on an antibiotic. Dr. John has consulted another doctor who feels we should do the test and know what we are treating before admitting me to hospital for IV antibiotics. So, here we go again my friends. I promise not to complain anymore. I will do what has to be done as it is what it is and complaining will not help me one bit.

I am not upset by any of this, as I love this time of year for sports. I have the World Series, Canadian Football playoffs, Curling trials for the Olympics and of course hockey season has begun. If I have to stay inside I will have lots of sports to watch which I love and also have time by the fire for reading ..... now what do I have to complain about. Terry will be here next week for a couple days as we both want to stock up on some things from Costco for the winter. All is well my friends and I had a day with no pain or discomfort....love it!

Good Night my friends and God Bless........:-) Hugs

It's a long time since I saw snow like that but I'm not complaining. I believe it's all down to global warming. If we had it again I'm sure we wouldn't be able to cope like we used to.
I hope the antibiotics are kinder than the last lot so you can get through it more comfortably. Hugs for you.

Oh, sweet Bernie...you never complain...never.
I'm sorry that you are going to have to undergo another round of antibiotics...
I'm praying very very hard for you. You are such a blessing...such a lovely lady.
I am thinking of you as you sit by the warm fire....looking at the snow.....and I'm sweltering here in the heat...perspiration dripping...seeking air conditioned comfort. Enjoy that beautiful winter....and take care of you.
Love to you, my friend...

Good morning Bernie...where did Autumn go? A snow storm for you and a blizzard for Terry...the characteristics of seasons do appear to be changing a bit all over the world...so many blogs I visit express this.

Grey's Anatomy is the only show I watch Bernie...I tivo it and watch it without the commercials...it's a favorite of g/daughter Amanda's too. We often talk of it!

As for the antibiotics...maybe concentrating on the sports programs will keep your mind off the side effects...if not, just do a lot of sleeping Bernie. I will be thinking positive and praying this time around it will be a different story and the medicine goes down easy...and is easy on you! Keep us up to date Bernie.

Luv and Smiles to you!
Wanda

Wow, Bernie and yesterday I had to turn the A/C on in my car. Our nights are cool enough for no air conditioning but still a bit too warm during the day.

So sorry you had to go by yourself but so glad your friend is safe as having her in a ditch would not make anyone's day, least of all yours!

Did they give you a better antibiotic? One that will not be so hard for you?

Happy to hear of a pain free day for you!!!

Bernie you are sport's minded man's dream come true!!! You could sit with the best of them!

blessings and hugs,

marcy

Hi Bernie!
I have had that scope test too and for the life of me I cannot remember what it is called. But it will come to me. It wasn't bad at all. What a pain it is having all the tests! Makes me want to say forget it but we know we have to do it!
I can't believe the snow you had! I am glad your friend made it home safely! She must be brave. Bernie I mailed your letter last Friday and thought you would have had it by now. Let me know when it comes and I'm am sorry that it is taking so long.
Be careful venturing out today!
Love Di

Bernie, you are so good! To go through what you have to go through, and to do it with a happy heart!
You truly are an inspiration!
I love that you look on the bright side of everything!

And I love your friend, Terry! She is a very good friend indeed! So sweet, and I'm glad you have someone like her in your life.

And I'm glad God's being good to you, letting you have your sports to console you in case you are stuck indoors again.

I can't get over the Winter storms already though! It doesn't seem that long ago that you were posting about temperatures in the 90's!
But you don't even let the Winter storms get you down.
Good for you!
I'm always happy to come here, Bernie, and always happy to read you!
Love to you,
Eileen

Oh, how I do dread the heavy snow falls. I stay home most of the time anyway, but luck sometimes has it that you have to go out. I am so glad you had a pain free day. The warmth probably helps too. Snuggled up in a blanket by the fire. Have a good weekend.

SNOW????? Oh dear! We have a report here for snow tomorrow, but it isn't supposed to accumulate. But it makes me sad how fast it is all coming. Our leaves are about in full color right now and if we get snow, many times they fall off too quick.
I am glad they are doing a scan so they know what they are dealing with. Maybe the new antibiotic won't be as bad on your stomach as the last one and it will help. Please keep us totally posted. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.
P.S. Don't go out shoveling...hire someone to do this for you, please!
Besides, if you wait, it will melt this time of year. :-}

HI BERNIE -

Oh wow, I so loved seeing the snow. :-) I really love Winter - I don't like driving in snow or ice but I love the smell and feel of Winter, the stillness of falling snow - the naked trees covered in white - the brave animals feeding close by - my mug of morning coffee steaming as I breathe in the crystal air. Oh my.

And Bernie? I am srry to hear that you have to go through testing AND take antibiotics again. I think you are very brave and your attitude is admirable.
I wanted to tell you that my cholesterol numbes are really good. I am at 169, and my good cholesterol is 61 and my bad cholesterol is only 71 which needs to be less that 130 so I am way under. phew. :-) I go for another BP check Tuesday to see if the medication adjustment did the trick. If not he can adjust it again - fingers crossed. I feel really good, all things considered.
I will hold you close in prayer and send all good energy to you.
Love and hope for us all
Gail
peace......

Hi Marcy, I have been on antibiotics since I came home with an abscessed tooth from vacation, I don't think they even work but I will try (this is a different one)
No snow yet today, just heard them say we may get flurries later...oh I do love my sports, always have. My husband and I would plan our days around them only then we attended so many together, now I seem to only see them on TV.
I was very relieved that Terry made it home safe Marcy, I would of felt terrible had she gone off the road, am hoping the weather will be good when she comes in next week......:-) Hugs

Glad you're not in pain. Happy that you're a sports fan! I don't envy that snow storm one bit--but I know it will find Indiana one of these days.

I pray for you again today, Bernie, thanking God for good doctors, medication, and potential remedies for so many of our ills. God is with you and so are we in thought & prayer.

We have a little here too but just a dusting but it's very wintery today.

Thnking of you my friend and sending hugs to you!

Oh, I so love Grey's and never miss it!

Off to meet a friend for coffee now ... have to get out of the house as this dreary weather has me a little down but my friend will cheer me up!

Sorry you have to go back on an antibiotic but it will be okay ...I just know it will.

Take good care, Bernie.
Joy and blessings to you!

Hi Bernie,
Wow! A snow storm. Yes, those roads do get bad in the snow. Glad Terry made it back safely and I'm glad you were okay on those roads. I could handle some cold weather. It is so hot here if feels like August. It should be a little cooler here at this time of year.
Grey's Anatomy. That is my favorite show, too.
Hopefully this antibiotic will make you feel better.
Take care.
Have a good weekend.
