Friday Favorites

Hello my friends, another quiet day today which I thoroughly enjoyed. We began the day with thick soupy like fog but when it burned off it turned out to be a lovely sunny day.

After tidying my home and doing laundry I went to lunch with a good friend, hey guys this time it was with a man....another post entirely.

Here are a few of my favorite things, each bring me joy in a special way. Unfortunately they are not in order as my very favorite are my Rosary and Prayer Hands.

My glider, which I use almost every day when I am unable to go to Curves. It is easy on the joints and helps me to keep my weight off, notice I keep my weight scales close by.

This is the Rosary my mom gave me for Christmas 1990 and the Prayer Hands given to me by my Aunt Marje, these are so special to me as both have since passed away.

Now this is a paper weight my sister, Sylvia brought me from Ireland. It is pretty isn't it?

Okay now this sand brings me warm and fuzzy memories from my vacation home where I went to the beach everyday. Just a bit of sand in a small jar but to me it reminds me of home, family and friends.

I am wishing you all a wonderful weekend, am off to enjoy my favorite blogs and comments.....Good Night and God Bless......:-) Hugs

Hi Bernie! I'm always glad to see that you've posted your blog...can't wait to see it and read about your day. Your glider looks like a lot of work to me...I've become quite a lazy gurl... :)) I notice the bookshelf behind the glider and see blue books on the bottom that look familiar to me...but maybe that's because I'm wishfully thinking..
:) When I was younger, I read Nancy Drew and also The Hardy Boys...and those blud books reminded me of the Hardy Boys books. :))
You paperweight is lovely...and I smiled at your warm-memories-sand. I do love to read your blog.
Smiles from Jackie
P.S. Word verification:"leggi"...I think that Blogger is telling me that my legs are toooo big!!

Your rosary IS alot like mine. I bought it for my mother when I was 15 or 16 yrs. old in downtown Chicago. I remember buying it vividly and in a very nice and large religious goods store.

We have an elliptical but it is a 'killer' so I wish there was something gentler.

Love your Irish paperweight and I have two that I posted awhile back...amazing that we have so many similar things!

Now, what about this mysterious tall, dark and handsome stranger you had lunch with...is he a future favorite? Will we see a picture?

blessings and hugs,

marcy

Beautiful post, Bernie! I loved all your favorites!
I like the idea of the glider being a favorite thing for you! And of course all the other heart treasures are beautiful too with special sentiments attached to each one. I think it's wonderful you have the little jar of beach sand, that was a great idea!
And the praying hands and Rosary are very dear. Do you keep the Rosary there or did you do that just for the picture? I'll have to go back and re-read, maybe you mentioned it.
And the paperweight is wonderful and I love all things Irish being Irish myself!

And I love the lace tablecloth you had on your table, your home looks very nice. And were those Nancy Drew books I saw on your bookcase? My eye was drawn right down to them, they reminded me of a set of Nancy Drew books I had, and also a set of Hardy Boys that my brothers had. I loved reading all those stories!

Very nice post, Bernie. I enjoyed it a lot!
Have a great weekend!
Love,
Eileen
PS ~ It seems a lot of us had problems with blogger today, we were all getting that same crazy message! Did you have any problems?

Hi Jackie, the glider is really easy believe me ..... Those books are The Hardy Boy Books, they are the full set and were my late husbands....I just haven't had the heart to give them away as he loved them so much as a kid and had kept them all those years. Really I should find a little one that would enjoy them.
I have several souvenirs from Ireland last year when I visited but my sister just came back 3 weeks ago from Ireland and gave me this gift when I was home.
Have a great w/k.....:-) Hugs

Hi Marcy, I have noticed that we have many similar favorites over the past months as well....the glider is very easy, trust me. Hey he is not tall, dark but is handsome and will remain mysterious for a while...seriously Marcy I have no desire for a relationship, but he is a good friend, and has been for a couple of years now...I just don't say anything about our friendship as I don't want to mislead anyone especially him....I wrote my post before my nap or I'm sure I still wouldn't have said anything even now....LOL (blame it on the drugs) Have a great w/k.....Hugs

Hi Eileen, I thought about you and especially your father all day today as these antibotics are really playing havoc with my body. May be time to come off them but if I do I have to have day surgery, they will clean the inflammation from my jaw and flush the jaw with antibiotics....I just don't want that so am trying so hard to take these tablets.
The glider is easy and very important to me, I need to exercise every day to be healthy and to keep my weight under control.
No Eileen, the Rosary goes everywhere I go, I keep it in a nice pouch in my purse during the day and on my night table at night.
Actally the tablecloth was a gift from an Aunt, I've had it for over 30 years now and only realized when you mentioned it that it is one of my favorites.
Those are my late husband's Hardy Boy Books....have had them in my life for 41 years now, I should really pass them on to a child who loves to read....just have to be able to part with them.
I haven't had any problems blogging today but haven't been on for very long at one time.
Have a great w/k ..... :-) Hugs

I've often wondered what the glider looks like..Now I know :D

So how the meal with your good friend? You didn't elaborate there! I really liked the prayer hands and the rosary and the out of focus chairs too :) The look of your home is so inviting :)

I can make out that you still miss being at home.. Talk to your folks back home as often as possible, it won't feel so bad then

Have a great weekend!

Good morning Bernie...
You realize I saw your post last night, but wanted to wait and read it this morning...with coffee!

You have several exercise options, between Curves, your bike and a glider. I have a threadmill, but use it mostly in the winter.

I think I suspected a man friend a few tmes before, when you would casually only say you had dinner with a friend.

Your favorites represent you well...your dedication, faith, sentiment, and love of family.

I had a post for favorites but Blogger wasn't cooperating...will do it next Friday.

Your tablecloth has served you well Bernie...30 yrs...it looks very nice in the photo.

Herhusband was able to stop taking Lyrica, now to wait and see if that was the right decision...Years ago I was hospitalized with pneumonia and acquired that dreaded "hospital Infection" too! Antibiotics weren't helping, it involved surgery and was touch and go for a month...was told it was in God's hands...my friends put me on several prayer lists...but I'm here...that was almost 15 years ago...
and this morning...I said a silent prayer for you Bernie...am hoping the antibiotics do the job and you can avoid day surgery.

Have a good weekend,
Wanda

Hi Bernie and happy Saturday.
FIrst, I did reply to you over at my blog but I wanted to make mention here - I was SO happy to receive your latest comment to me. It means so much that you took the time and I have such a better understanding now. The apparent "hot topic" issue I wrote about evoked many responses. Phew!! It was a very important issue for me and I just needed to share honestly about it. I did feeel badly by some of the responses but that's okay I guess. Anyway, you taking the time to help me understand you means the world tome Bernie. :-)

I love your pictures of your 'favorites'. I love your 'sand from home'.
Have a wonderful day, and again, "Thank you" for taking the time Bernie.
Love to you
Gail
peace.....

Hello my young friend, I've missed you....how do you notice even the out of focus photos?
He is a lovely person who has been my friend for a while, nothing to elaborate on Stillness, honest.
I always miss home Stillness, but have settled in quite nicely now and love sleeping in my own bed. Have a great day my friend, so glad to hear from you.....Hugs

Good morning Wanda, I knew you had been online last night and its okay as I really enjoy reading your comments in the morning. I knew I was going to fall asleep so I posted early. (then I woke up when it was time for me to "really" be in bed)
I put my tablecloth on after the cleaning ladies left on Thursday, but I don't use it very often Wanda and really I should, my Aunt would want me too.
So happy for herhusband....Wanda, I am a bit concerned my antibiotics aren't working and I do not want to be put to sleep to have my jaw flushed. My immune system is not like it should be with being a diabetic and its working so hard to fight my arthritis, I thank you for your prayers my friend. We just don't know what lies ahead of us do we...I have to be content knowing I have been doing the best I am capable of, I too am praying as it does feel that I have a long road yet to go. I do hope I am wrong, but after a week it still hurts to brush or run my tongue over my teeth on that side.....I guess I should ask to be put on everyone's prayer list now but I also know it is what it is and will be what it will be.....Have a great weekend my friend and I wasn't surprised at all that you knew about my friend, you have a keen sense of knowing......Luv ya, ....:-) Hugs

Hi Jinksy, my whole house is like a time warp in its on way ...small little things that could only mean so much too me. I love the term the sands of time for my little jar of sand...oh Jinsky you are a smart one....have a great weekend my friend....:-) Hugs

Hi Gail, sooo happy to hear from you this morning. I had sensed something wasn't quite right and when I returned to your site last night and read all your responses realized how you must of been feeling. So glad you know how much you are loved and missed when not online with us. You are important to me and all your blogger friends. Will visit you soon and hope you have a wonderful weekend.....:-) Hugs

Hi Bernie,
Your favorites show your personality well - love of family, spirituality and faith, an admiration and respect for Nature, plus a determination and diligence to do what you can to better your health. Stay the course on the antibiotics if you can, Bernie - I hope they'll do the trick with your infection - I agree with Wanda - the meds are better than having to go into a surgery care situation.

Those old Hardy Boy and Nancy Drew books are collectors' items now, Bernie. It must be comforting to have things around you that your husband also loved.

I'll be hoping for an end to your infection, Bernie!

Hello Barb, your lovely words are timely as I am struggling today. A small prayer would be appreciated....can you believe a small tooth could cause so much fuss.....:-) Hugs

Hi Bernie,

Thanks for the comments you entered on my post. Since I posted the Personality Plus, I have purchased on line ($5.00) Florence Littauer's book. I re-did the test and I am Melancholy. After reading it, I can understand why. It is an interesting read. I have not read Elizabeth Edwards books yet, but thanks for the info.

Hope you have a nice weekend.

Sandy

Hi Bernie, For some reason I clicked on your follow button on my site but couldn't get you, got all your friends though. I think I found a great group. Thanks for posting or I might not have found you. I am so new at this. I am in empathy with the aches and pains. I had bilateral knee replacements 5 years ago, and I am so much better. (I am going to tell you a secret. The gentleman's name, mentioned in my post yesterday, was actually Bernie.) Come again.

Hi Bernie,
My favorite was the paperweight! I'm sorry Bernie for not visiting sooner but I've been busy. I posted about it tonight so I didn't have to keep apologizing all week! I will be checking in on you all week though!
