Things That Go Bump In The Night

Hello my friends, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that my neighbours to the South had the best Fourth of July ever! We had a "just right" kind of day today, sunny, not to hot, just enjoyable.

This is how I found my car when I picked it up last night after our get together. Someone had hit it and left. There were no notes, nor was there a message left at the restaurant where I had parked it. It broke my heart as I love my little car.

Another view of the damage, I know it doesn't look like much but I am afraid it is going to be very expensive to repair. Thank the Good Lord I have insurance. I know no one would of hit it on purpose but I can't imagine not contacting me. All they would have to do would be to notify police with my License Plate number and they would of notified me. Now if it were me that was responsible I probably would of sat there all night until the owner returned so that I could do the right thing. Oh well, no one was hurt (as far as I know) and that is the main thing. One can always repair or replace a car but a person.....never. Hopefully the insurance company will advise me tomorrow and I will be able to make arrangements to have it repaired when I get back from holidays.

I had a wonderful time last night. It was so good to see everyone, some I hadn't seen in 2 years. I am happy to say they all noticed I had lost weight.....YES! We had so much food, the BBQ was full and was turned on most of the night. Oh the salads and finger foods were absolutely delicious. I didn't pig out as I didn't want a food hangover. You know its true, that is what I get if I eat too much now.... a good reason to keep it light.

Sharron, who hosted the get together, has just moved into a new home and it is lovely. Her and her husband has been married for 2 years now and are beginning to think about starting a family. They both have good jobs, are really happy and very much in love....oh a baby is going to be so loved in that home. What a wonderful host and hostess they were too!

Karen, is moving back to Saskatchewan today so it was a get together to say good bye and wish her well. I don't like good byes and even though I know she is doing what is right for her and her family I still felt sad when we left.

I parked at a restaurant in Edmonton where my friend Linda and her husband picked me up. It was her husband who noticed my car had been hit. He took the pictures and they e-mailed them to me today. When I notified police I was told it was okay to drive it home and to call the insurance company. All I got when I called there was a message machine so I left my name, number and account number. They said my call would be returned on Monday.

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning and a lawyer's appointment during the afternoon. As a matter of fact I have appointments every day this week except for Thursday and that is the day my cleaning lady comes in.

I am off to read my favorite blogs and comments....Good Night everyone and God Bless

Sorry to hear the sad news on your little car. Only the other day, I witnessed a woman back into a parked car and smash the number plate, and crack the bumper. When I pointed it out she just glared at me and walked off. I was incensed with fury at her [ not like me] but I know how awful it is to find your car damaged and not your fault. So I hung around until the owner got back to his car, gave him my phone number and said I would be a witness. He waited in his car for the return of the woman driver, and as I drove away, she was in an argument with him and then the nerve... she stuck her middle finger up to me. I tell you, it unnerved me. However, I feel I did the right thing.

Love Granny

Hi Barb, yeah I hate to see anything broken or misused like that but it can be fixed. Now thats my camera and car in one week, hate to think whats coming at me next....LOL seriously though I am well and Life is really good.
Pain for me is hard to handle as it slows me down but these other things though disappointing are not life changing. Thanks for caring my friend.....:-) Hugs

Silver, it did upset me for a bit last night but after I got a good nights sleep I put it in perpective and all is good. I have good insurance coverage so I am pretty confident about that but will know more tomorrow when I talk to my agent. Our get together was fantastic, love seeing old friends I had worked with. Take care my friend......:-) Hugs

Hi Granny, sorry you had such an ordeal, wish someone had waited for me with info. You know Granny I think people who do things like this are really angry and unhappy people....I honestly believe one cannot build their happiness on someone else's unhappiness. These people will eventually know the pain and discomfort they cause and it will probably be much worse than what they did to me. I am just so thankful to be healthy right now that these other things are a piece of cake....LOL
Have a great day Granny and we need more honest people like you in our world today....:-) Hugs

When I first saw the picture, I was really happy. Don't get me wrong. I thought your camera came back. Or you got a new one. But I am truly sorry about the dent in your car. I feel very bad about the dents in my dad's car too!

Courtesy demands that people indulge in some damage control. The insurance will take care of it. Don't worry too much Bernie. But what I felt amazing about this piece was your thought that At least no one was hurt. It's easy to replace a car, but impossible to replace a human. You definitely are moving to saint hood Bernie. I am SO SO glad I know someone like you.

Good luck with all your appointments Bernie. I shall surely miss not having you around Blog ville once you head home. But I know you really need to be there. Being surrounded with people who love you is the best thing that you can do for yourself. Loads of love Bernie, have a great day tomorrow

Hi Bernie
I don't care that my little car is far from the most expensive on the road, but I'm attached to it, and it rarely lets me down.

I know how you feel about your litle yellow beauty because I was in a shopping centre car park a couple of months ago and someone obviously tried to squeeze past with a trolley and scraped the red (!) paint all along the side.

First your camera, now your car! Now the aggravation and details of getting it repaired, etc...I'm glad your friend's husband was there to take the picture, etc. Sounds like your day was lovely and that you didn't "overdo". Trusting that all your appointments are productive and smooth. Keep Curves on your app't. list, too :) Our daughter is going 3 times a week. She said she was a little sore the first week, but enjoys it. It is good for her physically AND emotionally.

Having just had my car restored to new after a crash I know exactly how you feel. There are too many people around who simply won't own up. Glad to hear you had a wonderful time at your get-together.

Good morning Bernie...Sorry about your car...what a shock that would have been to find it damaged that way. Maybe it was an inexperienced young driver
worried about their mom and dad's reaction to their carelessness.

Your appt. at the doctor is for
the on going care, right?

Marcy is away as you know and dropped hints for more poems from all of us...I may try I guess.

I have come across comments left by you at other blogs Bernie...just know I feel the same about you...only wish I had met you sooner in my life!

Am going out now for a small walk...Annette's youngest son, Grant, camped out in the woods by the field...may try for a photo of his tent.
Smile and take care!

So sorry about the car, Bernie! What a nuisance! Especially when you have to be busy with so many other things right now!
And I know if you are like me, you don't want to be concentrating on this when there is so much else to attend to!

You have such a great attitude about it though, Bernie, that is what draws me to you.

I hope your busy week goes smoothly, and keep us posted on the car.
All the best,
Eileen

Hi Bernie,
Sorry about your car, people can be stupid! But I am happy to hear that you had a nice visit and delicious meal. It's just a shame that it ended on that note! I hope the rest of your week goes a little smoother Bernie.

Sorry about the car. I have had my share of car mishaps and it can get you down - when no one comes forward. (Or hits you and speeds away!) But on the plus side - sounds like a grand get-together and in the end - that's what's important. Thanks for visiting me and hope your day is lovely.

Hi Bernie-

Sorry about your lovely yellow car. I would venture a guess that the person who hit your car and took off is probably "fighting some kind of battle", we all are!! I know that doesn't excuse the injustice - nor make it right by any stretch -

Peace and love
Gail

Hi Stillness, everything is cool, will work out, always does. I will miss blogging as well but will have pictures and do my written journal at night. I have so many people to see when I am home, I am hoping they will come and visit me at the beach instead of me going to them. Have a great day.....Hugs

Hi Rebecca, yes they say things run in threes, I am not sure what is next. I did have a lovely night out with friends and now that the shock is off I will be fine. Have a great day my friend.

Oh Valerie, I think this is what bothers me the most all the running around having things fixed, just thinking about it makes me ill. Have a great day,

Good Morning Wanda, it is pouring down rain and I have to go out in half an hour, doctor is only removing 3 moles (they don't bother me but he wants them removed)
Did Grant have a good sleep out, I think that is cute to have him in the yard.
Oh the car....just having to do the running around bothers me, everything else is okay. Can't imagine anyone hitting a car and leaving without saying anything.
Have a wonderful day my friend,
as always.....:-) Hugs

Hi Bernie,
I am back! Just wanted to say thankyou for your kind comments, and prayers, and I am so sorry to hear about your camera and your car. How is Curves going? When are you leaving for vacation? Also, so glad you got to visit with some of our friends from GE. Was Lilly Ann there?

The Retired One said...

I am so sorry Bernie!
I feel bad because I encouraged you to go when you didn't feel up to it.
Maybe your intuition was correct.
But, like you said...you can replace the car...your friendship can't..I am sure your friend was so touched that you came to say goodbye!
Take care..I am so glad you weren't INSIDE the car when it occurred!

I am glad you had a wonderful time but saddened that it had to end as it did. That happened to us once when someone dinged our door with their car. Hubby was able to pound it out but he bought one of those things you use to pull dents out and it worked well.

Bernie said...

Hi Claudia, thank you, all is well with the car as Alberta has a special fund for such accidents, I don't have to pay anything. The only things is I go away on vacation next week so it won't be fixed until after that. Oh well, it will all work out. Thanks for stopping by....:-) Hugs

Hi Gail, I agree whoever hit my car must be very frighten and unhappy to just leave without a note or leaving a note at the restaurant. I will be fine but I wonder how "this" person will be.
Take care my friend.....:-) Hugs

Bernie said...

Joan, not to worry, I had a great time with my friends and the car will be fixed when I get back from vacation. Have a great day my friend.....:-) Hugs

Hi Terri, welcome back, you were missed. All is fine, my car will be fixed when I get back after vacation, Alberta has a fund that pays for hit and run accidents so it doesn't even effect my insurance. No Lily Anne was not at party, I did talk with her a while back though and she is fine.
Take care my friend....:-) Hugs
