Who Says You Get Smarter With Age....Not Me

Hello my friends, I am posting with a red face and feeling kind of dumb right now. I love all my blogger friends and miss them when they don't post. Now Jackie sent me an invitation to her blog, I accepted and have been wondering why she hasn't posted. I kept checking my reader and going back to her blog from there and was always disappointed when she still hadn't posted. I didn't know I couldn't reach her from my reader.....so Jackie finally figured out what I was doing, and e-mailed me. Thank you my friend for showing me how to find you, now I am taking comfort in knowing you missed my comments as much as I missed your post. I have spent the past couple of hours catching up with all her news and boy did I miss lots.....so today I am thankful for a friend who took the time to let me know what I was doing wrong, who cared enough to show me the way. Also another blogger friend, cinner sent me an e-mail with instructions on how to do something a little different and more personal with my blog....I will try to do it this weekend. Oh I feel so blessed to have such wonderful blogger friends in my life. As cinner would say sometimes I can be the tool box with a hammer.

It is cool and cloudy today, but I am relaxing by the fire as I nurse a bad cold and a horrible headache.....this cold just doesn't seem to want to go away....so go away germs and let me be me again. Tomorrow I see my hundredth specialist (exaggeration) so maybe she will prescribe something to help aid in the healing process.

I want to wish all my American friends a very Happy Thanksgiving.....I know you don't need to be reminded of all your blessings, you are all well aware of them, but I want you all to know I am so thankful for all of you. May you enjoy your wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner's, family and friends.

God Bless you and your families always.......:-) Hugs

Hope you get past your sniffles, Bernie...seems like there are so many flus and colds around this year, and with H1N1 you have to be extra careful. You will be in my prayers.

Thanks for the thanksgiving wishes...our oldest daughter Beth and her husband Matt and our two grandkids (Nathan, who is 7 and Miranda who is 2) are coming here this afternoon. Can't wait to hug on my grandkids again...it has been since May since we have been together and they grow so fast!
So tomorrow, we will have the big turkey feast and plenty of family visiting.
Then the week after, we are going to drive all the way down to Florida to see our youngest daughter (Kimberly) and her boyfriend and stay for a few weeks of warmth. I will try and keep up with the blogging, by prepublishing some blogposts, but I may get a little behind in reading others' blogs. Know that you are in my thoughts! BTW, I mailed you a package, did you get it yet?

Hi Bernie!
I was wondering what happened to you.
I am sorry that you are sick. I am sick too. Horrible headache and other assorted symptoms! So we won't be sick alone! I am going to pick-up some medicine in a while when I go get Jake.
Don't know if we'll make it to dinner tomorrow. Today is awful.
Hope you start feeling better soon.
Don't feel bad about Jackie's blog. I knew how to get to it, I just totally forgot! It's that senile dementia sneaking up on me!!!!! Love Di

For a far off Brit like me, this week is just another common or garden one, so the plethora of Being Thankful all over Blogland, is alien. But it has just struck me that Thanksgiving means exactly that - honestly, I haven't considered the word in that way before, as I'd say 'grateful'not 'thankful', by choice. Can you believe it? Thus 'Thanksgiving',in my understanding, developed a character all its own, far from the rock bottom, no nonsense meaning. So thanks, people across the pond, for giving me reason to rethink it! I give thanks to all of you for being out there, somewhere in Blogland cyberspace! :)

Joan, I know how excited you must be to hug your grandchildren, so happy you will all be together tomorrow.....and then a trip to the warm sunshine state, oh you are so blessed.
No I haven't received your parcel yet, Eileen sent me a card and it took almost 3 weeks from New York, can you imagine. I am really looking forward to it Joan and will let you know as soon as it arrives okay.
Don't worry about commenting my friend, enjoy your beautiful family and a very special Happy Thanksgiving......:-) Hugs

Oh Di, I am so sorry you are not feeling well, you don't need anymore on your plate right now (except a turkey dinner) I hope you will be well enough to enjoy the day with your family, Happy Thanksgiving to you, Jake, Katie, Frank & family and Ginny and her boyfriend and your mom, big hugs to your wonderful grandchildren. Get well soon my friend, let me deal with both our colds as we already had our Thanksgiving in October......:-) Hugs

HI BERNIE -

Hope you are feeling better soon - and such a nice way to rest and get well with a warm fire!! ;-)
I did the same thing as you over at Jackie's blog - I kept clicking on her blog name in my side-bar updates and there was never a new post from her - I finally emailed Jackie and she had to direct me!! Oh my.... :-)

We are getting things done here - tomorrow we are headed to my son's in Brooklyn - we made the syuffing and the squash/sweet potato medley. I am thrilled he is hosting this meal. My daughter, grandson and her finace' are coming too. My Mom was su[pose to come but she is not well Bernie - it came on kind of sudden - she needs more tests and time to heal.. There are two separate health issues that came on at the same time. Please pray for her and I will post as I can about her - she is amazing and I love her SO much....
Thanks Bernie for shsaring your heart and kindness
love Gail
peace.....

jinsky, you are so precious and so willing to learn new meanings of words in different countries, being Canadian we celebrated our Thanksgiving in October much the same way as our American neighbours will do tomorrow...I am very thankful/grateful for you my blogger friend......:-) Hugs

Gail, your stuffing sounds delicious and I am so happy you will be spending tomorrow with your family, so sorry to read about your mother not being well enough to share the day with all of you as I know how much you love and will miss her. I absolutely will pray for her....Please enjoy a very Happy Thanksgiving.....Hugs always my friend.

Bernie, I popped over to Gail's and don't remember if I left a comment or not. I am not gonna even think about the effects of aging on my brain, I am just gonna keep on keeping on. I have learned so much I know I can't have alzheimers. Everyone out there is so willing to help. I have even helped a few folks. Thanks for the kind words and good wishes. If I did you have 2 comments now.

Please, Villagers, GET WELL!
Everyone seems to be coming down with something.
Feel better, Bernie and take it easy.
I've been missing you but I just thought maybe you were busy.

I can commiserate with you about the computer, I am so bad with it. If I don't have Ray or one of the kids right here by my side to take me step by step I can't do a thing! And they have no patience with my slowness, so they just take over and do everything for me (which I'm happy to let them do!).
You are better than I am with things though, Bernie. I give up too easily.

I'm praying for full recovery SOON!
Post and let us know how you are doing.
Love to you, Eileen

Cathy, thank you....I hope to be able to post all is well soon...Hugs

Hi Eileen, not to worry I am only battling a cold and will be well soon I'm sure.
I think that you are so luckly to have Ray and the kids help you, of all my friends I am the most computer literate and am always helping them, how pathetic is that and even though I always tell them I really don't know what I am doing they think I'm a genius because I blog....I keep trying to learn, ask questions, read books especially my computer's for dummies, I hear there is a book out now for blogging and I am going to look for it when I am well enough to shop.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving my friend, I bet your dinner will be delicious.....big hugs to Jayden and Mia, luv ya....:-) Hugs

Hi Bernie,
I am so sorry to hear that you are sick...I hope that nasty cold and headache goes away quickly and leaves you alone! I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery :)
I know that you already had your Canadian Thanksgiving...but I wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving anyway...you are a blessing to me!!
I'm still under the weather and my daughter had surgery this weekend, so I've not been on much...

Hi Bernie, I hope you're feeling better by tomorrow's appointment, I hate going anywhere when I feel bad. I have baked cakes and pies all day it seems and didn't get tired until I sat down to check blogs and I still forget to go to Jackie's blog sometimes, I rely on the reader so much to show me everyone's latest post and now you've got me curious about what cinner taught you, I will just have to wait and see I guess. It's almost 10:00 and I just yawned so I should turn this computer off.

Luv and Smiles,
Wanda

Oh Bernie, this know-all is ashamed to admit that she went down the same trail of thinking Jackie wasn't posting. I sussed it out fairly quickly but still felt a bit of an idiot.

I know you celebrated your Thanksgiving in October, and I'm sorry I only just found that out, so I'm sending belated greetings.

We definitely don't get smarter, but maybe wiser.

Val, thanks for confessing, now I don't feel so bad....:-) Hugs

A/C, wiser, yes that is a much better word......:-) Hugs

I hope you have recovered from your cold or whatever you have. I don't like to hear that you are sick. Seems like you have a lot of friends and that doesn't surprise me in the least because you are a friend. And you don't get smarter with age. You get smarter by doing and learning and you do that.

Hello my dear friend Bernie, I am feeling better thank you and yes I am blessed to have very good friends here in blogland and in person as well....You are quite right Bernie, one only grows smarter if one keeps learning and I love learning new things....I do hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family..Hugs
