Welcome September

Can you believe we are already into September......Fall my favorite season of the year. Now I have to admit this year I have left a few skid marks on the road trying to hold onto summer for a while longer. We didn't really have a very nice summer this year and what we did have didn't last very long. The fact is our summer is over and the smell of Fall is in the air. The mornings are cool and crisp, the afternoons warm and sunny and the evening are shorter. As we walk along the sidewalk I notice everyone is wearing a sweater.......it was time to let go of short sleeves and Capri's.....I had to join the others so tonight while walking I wore a cotton sweater and enjoyed the cooler air. It is okay now, I have adjusted......if for no reason than I have no choice.

The past week has been busy for me......and I don't know why people enjoy saying how busy they are. I don't get it......never have, it is almost like they don't want to admit to people they have nothing to do. Now me I long for the day of relaxation with absolutely nothing to do but what I enjoy. I spent 4 days last week at my nephews as he had to go away for work, I stayed with Fallon.....the special LP in my life..... We went shopping, out to eat, rented movies just enjoyed each other. When she went to West Edmonton Mall I tidied the house, did laundry and looked forward to her returning home. Her hair cut looks really cute.....then again I am a bit prejudice.

This is my nephew Greg, he is the only family I have in the area. He lives about an hour east of me. He is a wonderful father and I love watching him with his children. His heart is breaking right now as he shares custody of his two younger children with his wife. He misses them.....I did too but I did get to see them for a short time when I was there. They are just precious. I am going back over to Greg's mid September as he has to go to Montreal for more required work shops......I don't mind at all, I love the time with the children.

I know you are thinking I look tired, well that is because I was then, in fact I still am now. I don't know why I have been feeling so tired lately but it kind of came over me about 3 weeks ago. I can put my head down anywhere and fall asleep. Hopefully next week I will see Dr. John and find out what is going on, I may need my thyroid medication adjusted.

My friend Terry is arriving tomorrow. I am so looking forward to seeing her. She is only here a short time as she is flying out Sunday morning for home. I know she will have a wonderful time being with her family and friends. We have to fix my front doorbell as well I need to go shopping for lamps. The weekend will fly by, it always does when she visits.

The rest of my weekend will be filled with watching the US Open Tennis. I can't get over how hot it has been there, and us wearing sweaters. I am praying the hurricane misses the east coast and that includes my home province New Brunswick and of course Nova Scotia......We have received some horrible hurricanes over the years with much damage.....I pray all of my family and friends will be safe and even all those I don't know. Please stay out of harms way, these storms are not to be played in.

Have a great weekend everyone, God Bless and many, many hugs....:-)

Hi Bernie,

Hope you're keeping well.

Today was our first day with mist. I looked out of the window and could not even see the trees in the garden - turns out I did not pull back the net curtains!

Also had problems with the front door bell. People keep telling me it does not ring. Tried to fix it and it seemed OK. Then the elderly lady living ACROSS the road came to see me. She said every time someone pushes my doorbell button it rings in HER house. She looks across and sees people waiting outside my house. Something to do with the wavelength thingy in my door bell which sends the signal to her house !!!? Do you think I can change what she's watching on TV with my remote control?

God bless you.

Hi Victor, I am well thank you. I think it funny we both are having front doorbell problems, and yours ringing the lady across the street is a hoot.....I don't think my problem is the same.
Our Fall is here Victor, and I have to just accept it.
Be careful what channel you are watching on TV, wouldn't want to upset the neighbor (she may not like cartoons....lol) Have a great weekend my friend....:-) Hugs

Bernie, glad you had such a good time, you did look tired, hope the doctor can figure out why. my mil had the same problem with the doorbell as your friend Victor...seems kinda silly, I liked your cartoon remark. so have fun with Terry and then maybe some rest for you after that. hugs, have a great long weekend.

I love your positive attitude to all things, Bernie. I feel for your nephew. His situation is so common these days ... so much heartache. I marvel at how seemingly well the children of broken marriages cope with life.
It's misty and cool here this morning but there is a promise of a fine day. Autumn is definitely on its way but Hey Ho, the sweaters are ready and waiting.

September has got off to a good start here - sunny, and warm enough to enjoy without breaking into a sweat at the least movement! I could live with this up until Christmas! :)

I didn't think you looked tired. Thought you looked very lovely and your family too.

I am always a bit sad when the autumn comes because it means that awful bad weather of winter is on its way and that summer is just a memory.
I am definitely a SPRING person!
We are having warm, dry , dull weather at the moment. Cold mornings & evenings.
Enjoy the weather you love!

glad you had some nice visits with your family, divorce is so hard on everybody. Hope your Dr tells you everything is OK and it is something minor.
We have a heavy rainfall warning, southern NS a hurricane warning and along the fundy coast of NB and the rest of NS a tropical storm warning, but i hope it will not be to bad.

Enjoy your visit with your friend ♥

Problems with my door chimes also, Bernie, they skip a beat or two. Just as well, because they sounded just like our clock that chimes, at least now I can distinguish one from the other.
Fallon has changed since I last saw a photo, she's more of a young lady than a girl now. Your nephew must be so thankful to have you near. Hope their transition becomes comfortable and problem free.
It was nice seeing the photos and you don't look tired, just lovely!

Sounds like you've had a busy time that would make anyone tired! I had my thyroid medication increased last month...I knew it was time as it was like walking under water I was so tired. And what a difference even a small increase can make both physically and mentally!

I'm ready for some of your fall weather here in Georgia!

I will try to vicariously enjoy your fall temps as it is still reaching 100 here each day!

Our doorbell is broken, too, but I put up a little sign saying "Please Knock." It's easier to keep putting up new signs than fix the darned thing!!!

This summer has not been kind here in South Carolina. We moved to Myrtle Beach on June 1st and have been cooped up in the air conditioned house for 3 straight months. Heat indexes well over 100most days. Even the beach is too hot to enjoy. The last two days have finally allowed us to open windows and enjoy beautiful cooler mornings and listen to the birds sing their wake up songs. I hope we can stretch this out for awhile because we feel short changed.

Hope your transition into fall is pleasant and enjoyable.

We here in South Carolina have not enjoyed summer too much with temps and heat indexes well over 100. Three straight months of being cooped up in air conditioning. Too hot to even go to the beach. Today is the second day that we are able to have open windows and enjoy the quiet and peaceful sounds of our birds singing. Sadly, fall is around the corner so I hope to enjoy a little bit more of summer weather before it rolls in. Yet when I see the floods in other countries and earthquakes wreaking havoc, I stop to thank Mother Nature for what we do have. It could be sooo much worse.

HI BERNIE-

I so enjoy your visits with family and all the love you share with them. They are so lucky to have you in their worlds. I do hope you are feeling energized again soon and that a medication adjustment is the solution.
And yes, Fall is coming, although the heat wave here is hiding that fact. Hopefully, once "Earl" flies on by the weather will change to cooler and dryer. phew.
Enjoy your walks in the cool crisp air and all else that is precious to you

Love Gail
peace and hope.....

Hi Bernie, so glad to see a post and to visit. That is funny about the door bells. I am in the process of making all 16 Christmas gifts. Some baskets, 6, which are playing havoc with my thumbs and knuckles and crocheting 2 afghans. That is only 8 items and 8 more ideas I have to come up with. It is gradually cooling down here. I noticed yesterday a few leaves falling. It is my favorite season. Your niece and her dad are beautiful. Blessings

It's been torrid here but will switch to quite cool tomorrow. We've only seen some of the tennis, but we are just getting to the good stuff.

It's so good to hear from you Bernie. And so happy that you had that special time with Fallon. It is a sad situation but it's very good that you can be there for Greg!
I imagine that he is very grateful for that.
I hope your doctor will be able to figure out why you've been so sleepy lately. It's great to nap but we do need to be awake sometimes!!
Our weather is starting to change here too. Gradually. The next two days are supposed to be in the 70's! That is heavenly to me. The sun is also setting much earlier and lots of the plants are drying up or have died off already. I love Autumn so I don't mind at all.
Besides the sleepiness, I glad to hear that you are doing well!
Love Di ♥

Hi Bernie, Glad you posted so we know what you've been up to! Fallon is growing to be a young lady. You always wear your smile, Bernie, even when you say you're tired. (And, I'm always glad to see it!)

Rebecca said...

Good to hear from you!

Like you, I enjoy autumn and I can't wait to be sure that it is actually here! (We've had a hint or two of it, but then heat & humidity returned.)

I'm glad you had some more time with Fallon and enjoy each other's company.

Hope Dr. John can help you with your tired feeling & that the doorbell gets fixed.

Where are you putting a new lamp(s)?

I guess the smoke has cleared up there???

Great pictures! Fall and Spring are usually my favorite seasons, but since we had no real SPring this year, I am so ready for Fall! We aren't as far along as you as far as cooler weather, but tonight I am lucky enough be sitting outside enjoying the low 80's in temps. It's the small things! Enjoy your weekend!

Fallon is adorable and I know you enjoy spending time with her!
You look great to me! All I want to do is sleep too! I had rather lay on my bed most of the day and sleep! I so need to get busy. I can't imagine wearing sweaters yet. It was in the low 90's here today with low humidity and I enjoyed it! I love Fall myself it is my favorite season.
I know you will enjoy your weekend and I hope you find some great lamps!
Hugs,
Donna

I know what you mean, Bernie about autumn arriving in glory. Last week we had heat and 90 degrees and today it was in the 40's and raining and windy and FREEZING! I know we will get warmer weather back (maybe 60's and 70's) for a few more weeks, but this cold front is a brisk reminder of what is to come. I do love the colors changing and can't wait to get out there with my camera...our leaves are about 15% changed now, so I will be busy in about two weeks taking as much photography as I can when it does change! I am so glad you get to spend time with family, I know how you love that and I am sure they love being with you, too.
Hope they get your meds. straight so you get more pep. If it isn't your thyroid, have them check your white blood cells and iron..it could be either of those things too.
Take care, you are in my thoughts always, my friend.xxoo

It's good to hear from you again. Yes, please get your thyroid checked, I often find that it is the culprit in my case and a little adjustment of the medication helps. Here too fall is happening, but I'm embracing it. I'm okay with it for now. The weather is not too bad and the sun is still shining. Have a lovely time with your friend and shopping for new lamps.

I am one of those people that needs to keep busy. I can only sit still for so long before I start going stir crazy.

Enjoy the fall weather while it lasts, and I hope the hurricane does no damage to your area. Stay safe.

Hello Again Bernie - I think today may be a good one. We need some good hot weather to dry up the crops. The smoke was awful and the gray days and rains of last weekend were enough to get anyone down. I hope your tired times have been weather related and that the hopefully sunny September days will revive your energy. I packed away most of my summer things yesterday. It's always over too soon...Sunshine Always - Sheila

It was lovely seeing you here with Fallon :-)

I hope your doctor tells you it's just general tiredness and nothing to worry about!

I too long for some time when I can do nothing at all :D

The year just like weekends has flown by so quickly!

Hey Bernie, The US Open is on the tv as I type. So far it's been some pretty darn good tennis!

Hope you find some energy or the doc has an easy fix for you. Being tired can be exhausting as they say. Feel good soon!

Cheers, jj

Just like you, I like my relaxing time. No longer will I let my life be so busy. I would be interested in what the doctor says about your being tired. I regulate my thryoid meds depending on my morning temp. Enjoy your relaxing time watching the US Open.

Hi Bernie!
That's funny that Victor's doorbell rings at a neighbor's house. He probably planned it that way! (Just kidding.)
Fall is my favorite season, too. We had a terrible heat wave last week but it is much cooler this week. I hope it stays that way.
Fallon is adorable and I'm glad you two enjoy each others company so much. I'm sorry to hear about your tiredness and hope it clears up soon. It's good that you have a doctors appointment set up. God bless you, Bernie :)

Hello Bernie, Its so nice to see your family in photos with you, its like we are there also. I love it!! You do look a bit tired. Could be your thyroid or your sugar is elevated. Are you a diabetic?? Otherwise get yourself onto Multi B Stress tablets, the B6 and B12 will work wonders.
God bless you heaps. xxx

I'm still in capris, but I know in a month -- maybe less -- it will be long pants and closed toe shoes. I'm not rushing into it at all. The weather is glorious this weekend -- we were totally and thankfully spared from Earl -- and I am using today for lots of little at home errands. Grocery and bank to come.
I think Fallon looks adorable, too!

great smiles in photos! Sweater season, already??? no, no. I still refuse (kind of, that is until I get cold)hehe

you guys truly do have the shortest of summers, (shaking my head) I couldn't do it...

and that explains an even better reason to be surrounded with loved ones to keep warm :)

i love fall too, and it's interesting how much more wonderful is after a hearty summer.
everyday my verizon homepage (i am so technologically challenged i do not know how to change it to something other than verizon) tells me the temperature in new york. wow, it's been hot there. and very cool here in southern california. people here are quite disappointed to miss out on a hot summer.
weather around the world has been weird this year.

We are starting to settle into fall here as well. After last week's temps of the high 90s it has been in the 70s. The sky looks bluer and clearer now. Your niece is a cutie, how you must enjoy her company and I imagine she says the same about yours! Its wonderful you are able to help your nephew and his children during what must be a sad, hard time. I have been there. Hope you had a wonderful visit with your friend as well.

Bernie I'm glad you had a good time at your nephews. You look great!! Speaking of falling asleep I too am one of those that can fall asleep anytime anywhere. I have fallen asleep in the tub on the Queen's throne" LOL Lately I fall asleep sitting up. A few nights back I was in this position nearly the whole night.
Off to bed before I fall asleep on my keyboard.

Hello my friend! It is because Fall is in the air, and makes me sleepy too! So happy you could spend time with family! I too love days when I have NOTHING to do. Probably could do something, but choose to just be a slug! Usually those days are on a Sunday for me...LOL love Sunday's!

Hi Bernie,

As hot as it's been, I'm going to miss summer. I'm probably the only one. :)

But fall is beautiful and I will enjoy my runs more.

Hope you've figured out why you're a little tired here and there, and prayers that it is a simple matter.

Oh...I always enjoy hearing about your family. Your love for them is so deep.

Hi Bernie. I'm catching up on my friends' blogs today and really enjoyed reading about your 'Fall Adventures'. I laughed out loud when I read about the skid marks...something else came to mind. Thanks so much for your kind words about my Mom. It's all so new that I still think I should call her and see how she is. I'll let God take care of her now. So long, Mar <3

Hi Bernie, I've just discovered your blog, via Eye in the Sky.

I know what you mean about people 'boasting' of how busy they are, I think to some it is a status symbol. I'm like you though, having time to sit and think is very precious.

All the best,
J.J.

Jackie said...

Hi Bernie...You know that I worry when I read that you are unusually tired. I do hope that you find out what is causing that, and that you can get it taken care of right away.
There are no sweaters here (southern United States)....but I do feel and smell autumn in the air...and what a wonderful feeling that is. Since I am completely retired from all my jobs, I come and go now...having no set time to be anywhere....and for the first time in a long time (pretty much forever) I am able to set my schedule and take off and stay until I want to return home (and there's no place like home.)
Feel a warm 'suthurn' smile from here to Canada from me to you, my friend. Hugs from Jackie
