Love My Girls

My Great Niece - Olivia

Hello my friends,

This is my great niece Olivia, a couple of post ago I showed you a picture of her sister Fallon. Fallon is eight years older than Olivia but they have a special bond between them. I love watching them together, Fallon is so kind and gentle with her and her little face lights up whenever she sees her big sister. Sisters share a special relationship I think, I know I do with both of mine.

Just an update on my deck....if I want to have a patio poured the estimate was $6000 and that didn't include taking down the old deck and hauling it to the landfill......now they can put in a "sister joist" on this deck and replace a few of the 2 x 4's and paint it for approximately $1800. but they can't do this until the Fall. It is wonderful knowing that everyone has so much work that I have to book 4 months in advance....and to know it has only taken them a week to get back to me with the quotes....did I mention I called twice before I got them.

My friend Terry surprised me with a visit on Sunday and went home Monday. She drove her husband's new truck and I wish I could remember the name of it to tell you. It was beautiful and her backseat was bigger than my car. It was huge and did everything, even talked to her. Her dashboard has a huge touch screen, it is a GPS, and also she can press a button and say home and it automatically calls home. It does so many things that it is impossible to list them all but it is a real luxury. Now I wouldn't want a truck but I was very comfortable sitting in it and Terry can drive it and park it on a dime. I have to laugh at how she can do this.

A couple of nights ago I heard a horrible noise from the kitchen, when I checked it out it was coming from the fridge. First thing yesterday morning I checked the fridge and it wasn't cold at all. The freezer seemed okay but the refrigerator wasn't working for sure. I called 5 different Appliance Repair places and the earliest someone could come and fix it was today. The freezer is keeping things cold but ice cubes and food have melted and so did a lot of other things which I had to throw out, anyway he arrived today after 4 pm, looked at the fridge and told me he would be back tomorrow with the part he needed. Now I had given him the make, model and serial number of my fridge when I called him.......you would think he would of known enough to bring a fan with him but no he didn't. I am wondering at $88 a house call if I will be charged for 2 house calls. Oh I love my life, nothing ever goes wrong in it.......LOL

Our weather has been absolutely beautiful. We have had the odd thunder/lightening storm but they have only lasted a few minutes. Everything is so green. I have put up my hanging baskets, planted a few flowers, still want to plant more and put out my deck furniture. It is really nice out there, I only hope no one puts their leg through a board......can you say lawsuit......LOL

I have been enjoying Wimbledon Tennis as well as the sunshine. I know I have complained about things being broken but the truth be known - it has been a wonderful week and I am enjoying the hot sunny days. Next week will only get better, at least the milk, eggs and butter will be cold and I will have ice!

God Bless.......and many, many hugs......:-)

Oh Bernie, the saga of the deck continues, the price seems crazy.but like you said at least your milk and eggs will be cold. the two little girls are treasures, my Mom had gotten a new vehicle, it has all the bells and whistles like Terrys. glad you are well, I was wondering where you were. Take care, big hugs to you.

Hi Bernie,

Isn't it awful when you need someone to do a job for you and they can't turn up for ages. Plumbers are the worst. I wanted a plumber urgently and the only one who could attend said he can come on the 12th of January 2012 !!! Can you imagine that? I had to agree and he said: "Is that morning or afternoon - because I have another job in the afternoon. Failing that I can come in 2013 !!!"

You gotta laugh.

Seriously though, our church needs three months' advance booking to say a Mass for a special intention. Now that's not funny.

God bless you Bernie.

Oooh Bernie, I hope you get your fridge fixed soon, at minimum cost. This is no time to be without one. Enjoyed reading about Olivia, she's a pretty little soul.
That's some vehicle Terry has, I wonder if it has a fridge you could use... grins. Have a great rest of the week and weekend. Hugs from me.

Hey sweet friend, love and hugs to you. You are right, sisters are so special, I sure love my sister. Sorry about your deck, and freezer, pray they both get fixed very soon, and very inexpensively. Congrats to your friend for her very nice new truck, sounds great. Take care.

i dislike being at the mercy of repair and remodeling workers. i don't negotiate well at all, and when i'm thankful to get the help more than they are thankful for the work, it has spelled trouble for me. i admire your positive attitude. same for the fridge guy.

i'm enjoying wimbledon too. baseball says summer to me, but so does tennis on grass played in whites.

cute niece. glad your enjoying your summer. it's fun to enjoy your positive energy here-- despite the $6,000 estimate. yikes!

I so related to your problems, Bernie. Remember our fridge quit just before last Thanksgiving and we have 3 boards that need replaced on our back deck, which is a second level one. Herhusband and sons built it so he will repair it. Wish I could ship them to you, Bernie!

Cute Olivia and Fallon have nice 'sister' names, similar in type and very pretty!

Soon our cars will be driving themselves...the satellite calling system is a good safety feature to have, in case of emergencies in remote areas!

Enjoy your hot sunny days, Bernie. Just put a 'yellow' rug on the weak deck boards as a caution reminder! :)

Good Morning Bernie,
Sorry to here about your deck (crazy expensive!) And your fridge. My dryer broke down last week (it is over twenty yrs.) it needed two parts but he was able to fix it for under two-hundred. Much cheaper than buying a new one. He also said that the new ones are made like crap and are way more expensive to fix! So we are keeping the old ones going for now!!
When I first saw your niece Olivia, she reminded me of AC'S , Nikki Dee! So cute.
I sure hope that things start working right for you, remember, Duct tape!!! LOL!!!!
Too bad Duct tape couldn't fix your deck and fridge and my dryer!
Love Di ♥

Hi Bernie,
How are you?
Your neice is adorable. So happy to hear that your deck is finally being fixed and soon you will be able to sit outside.
We have been having lots of thunder and lightening storms lately, too. This is very typical of Summer. The good part is that it doesn't last very long.
Off for a walk.
Have a great day.
Smiles to you.

Gosh, sorry about the fridge, Bernie. We had that happen to us some years back and had to wait several days - turned out, as old as it was, it was under special recall for that particular problem and we got it fixed for free! That's frustrating about the deck, but is there no one else you can call? That seems an awful long time to have to wait! Well, at least you can still have all those flowers to enjoy, just don't be having a block party out there!

hasn't that wimbledon match that is breaking so many records been incredible?! those poor guys are going to be beyond exhaustion when it's finally all over!!

have a great day bernie...

Surely, he will only charge you for one call. That's common procedure as I understand it. Enjoy the tennis, including that ridiculous marathon.

Your young great niece is so beautiful and full of life. I empathize with the deck situation, ours needs something, but HH and I are just not willing to even get into it. It is not falling down. I think a good pressure wash would help. Have you watched that tennis tournament? When will it end. Something always going on in the sports world. Blessings

DEAR BERNIE,
OLIVIA IS A LITTLE DOLL. HER HAIR SO REMINDS ME OF AMY'S WHEN SHE WAS THAT AGE. I KNOW THEY HAVE TO BRING YOU SUCH JOY.
PLUMBING BUSINESS IS THE BUSINESS TO BE IN...THAT POOR GENTLEMAN THAT HAS TO WAIT UNTIL 2012...THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS AND UNACCEPTABLE. I KNOW THEY TAKE A LONG TIME BUT THAT IS RIDICULOUS.I CERTAINLY HOPE THAT REFRIGERATOR MAN DOESN'T CHARGE YOU FOR 2 VISITS...MOST PLUMBERS JUST CALL IN AND SOMEONE BRINGS THEM THE PART IF IT IS NOT ON THEIR TRUCK...ANY WAY THAT IS HOW THEY DO IT IN OKLAHOMA....IT IS ASHAME YOU DON'T LIVE CLOSER BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE HUSBANDS WHO WOULD FIX YOU DECK RIGHT AWAY. I AM PRAYING SOMEONE YOU LEAST EXPECT WILL SHOW UP AND FIX IT FOR YOU.
BERNIE YOU ARE SUCH A JOY AND A INSPIRATION, WHEN YOU ARE FIGHTING YOUR OWN HEALTH ISSUES. PLEASE KNOW PRECIOUS LADY I PRAY FOR YOU EVERY DAY.
LOVE AND HUGS TO YOU BERNIE
YOU CERTAINLY ALSO BELONG TO THE CLUB WE DON'T WANT TO BE A MEMBER OF.
SIMPLY DEBBIE

What a sweet little girl! You must be proud of them both!

I think I would go for the new wood on the patio & wait the 4 months! Much cheaper.

Too bad about the fridge. I would be very surprised though if you had to pay 2 call out charges. Don't even let them think you would contemplate it.
Hope it all goes well. Sounds much the same as out country for waiting & expense!

Even I am excited about Wimbledon tennis this year, and I don't even watch tennis.

Olivia...beautiful names appear to run in your family.

I'm sorry about your fridge, but was delighted that nothing ever goes wrong in your life. This should make the things that do go wrong easier to put up with.

Bernie, Olivia is precious ... yes love those girls! The price for the deck seems outrageous to me! I am glad you are having wonderful weather ... it is so hot and humid here in the south. Our refrigerator went out last summer ... thank goodness it was still under warranty. He should only charge you one service call!
Take care,
Donna

Bernie,
I agree - sisters are special! I spent the morning at my older sister's house and we had a great time :)
I hate when refrigerators go on the blink in the summer, at least in the winter you can save the food by putting it on the deck.
The economy must be better in Canada, my brother-in-law is a carpenter and having terrible difficulty getting work. Things are far worse in other states but N.H. is feeling the pinch too. Hugs to you, Bernie :)

Hi Bernie, So good to hear that you're enjoying your summer. Can't wait to see some pics of your hanging baskets. When something isn't working at my house, I dread calling for a repair! Sometimes, we even tell them (If we can give them all the info they need) - don't bother coming until you have the part to fix it! Hope your weather stays nice, Bernie. Good luck with the fridge and the deck!

Hello, dearest Bernie!! So glad that you had such a lovely time with your girls! They are beautiful! And such fun to have Terry visit!

I am sorry about your refrigerator...that's a terrible thing...costly...and so very inconvenient as well! Pray it get fixed quickly!

And yes, Wimbledon has turned into quite a tournament this year!! Such fun! Hope the rest of the week is wonderful!! Love you! Janine XO

Oh no, Bernie!! Not your refrigerator!! They say bad things comes in threes...so you have a bad deck, a bad refrigerator..hope that's IT for you.
I know what you mean about the deck...we have an old house we are renovating across the street from us and we had to have a porch floor fixed on the outside...it is costing us over $2500 with labor, materials and permits to do it. YIKES. Should have left the old one on...that is ridiculous of a cost I think for just wood boards to be fixed.
At least your refrigerator can be fixed with a part...new ones are expensive for sure.
Your little grand neice is a doll...so nice you can visit with them both and enjoy them. I bet they love coming to visit you and getting all those hugs and kisses.
Our weather has been giving us too much rain over the last few weeks, but before that we had really warm weather.
Looking forward to our 4th of July here, we have lots of company coming over.
Take care, I hope you are feeling well and enjoying summer.
love to you!

That's a lot of money for pouring a deck! I presume you mean a concrete one, poured from a lorry? In England it doesn't cost very much. A wooden deck would probably cost more. I'm glad you are enjoying the sunshine and the Wimbledon. L and I have Wimbledon mugs, which we bought from the online Wimbledon gift shop.
Blessings, Star

There is nothing worse than the fridge going - well, I am sure there are a lot of worse things but you know what I mean!!

Olivia looks adorable... my best friends eldest is called Olivia... I just love the name.

Good luck with the deck :)
