Hey Guys ...... The Fridge is Fixed

Hello My Friends

I am happy to update you on my fridge and my deck decision. The fridge is fixed. I asked the repair man when he arrived today if he was charging me for one or two house calls, when he said one I said come in and I am happy you are here. It only cost me $220.00 to repair the fridge and that was the cost of the fan plus the $88. house call. I am telling you people we all have to go to trade school and be an expert....we would all be rich!!!!

I have finished my deck and it looks beautiful.....I only put out my furniture and planted more flowers. I have decided I will repair the wood in the Fall. I also am going to have my main floor (in my house) painted in the Fall.......Fall is going to be busy around here but it will look oh so nice. I am so blessed that I have a choice in the Fall to either repair the deck or replace it in the Spring.... Life is good.

Today, I also had young people take away an old couch, chair and TV in my basement, they are taking it to the landfill. I will put my wicker furniture down there for the winter next year. I vacuumed and dusted downstairs this afternoon and I am surprised at all the room I have now. I love how clean it looks now that I have vacuumed and dusted, not to mention vacuumed all the spider webs away and washed down the walls.

Fallon is coming over to spend time with me before she goes home to NB July 6th (for 5 days beginning July 1st.) I have booked pedicures for us both on July 2ond. We are also going to have our eyebrows waxed the same day. She is so sweet, we talked an hour on the phone today and all we did was laugh. She really is a hoot! I am taking Fallon shopping to pick out an outfit to wear on her flight home, plus a few things she may need. Gosh I love this kid, I only want her to enjoy her summer vacation.

I wanted to tell you all last night that her sister, Olivia, has Ausburger's (sp)disease. Fallon is so good to her little sister. I wanted Olivia to know that Aunt Bernie has put her picture on her blog, (Fallon is going to show her) but I also wanted to protect her. Honestly Olivia is the most beautiful child you could meet. She is kind, gentle and loving. Only God knows how much I love her. She does very well so far, but life is hard and I am not sure that people will love her as I do. I want to protect her from all harm, I love her unconditionally and she knows this. Her little face lights up for me as it does for Fallon and I melt whenever she smiles at me. I am so blessed to have her for my great niece. Her brother Dylan is my godchild. Just wait til I tell you about him, he is so active and so much fun. I have never met a child that is so busy, if you can climb it he climbs it, (and if you can't he still climbs it) you would so love him if you knew him. I know I do and I laugh so hard as he performs for me.

I love my days with Fallon as she is so funny, we have a bond that cannot be broken. We are going shopping just to make sure she has what she needs to go to NB. We are also going to dinner, a movie and to be very honest every place she wants to go. I only want her to have fun, enjoy her visit home and come back to Alberta happy and healthy. Fallon has been a major part of my life since she has been born, in reality her father and I have been the only constant in her life since she has been born. I will miss her while she is gone, but I will be so happy to welcome her home. I know my sister (her grandmother) will do everything she can to see that Fallon has fun and enjoys her visit. Fallon doesn't realize (it is a surprise) that her Uncle Terry has bought her tickets to see Taylor Swift on PEI. I know she loves Taylor, I only wish I could see her face when she realizes she is going to see her in concert. She will absolutely love it......maybe I should go home with her as I would love to see Taylor as well as Prince Edward Island again. It is so beautiful there, if you get a chance to visit please do, you will love it. The play Anne of Green Gables runs regularly throughout the summer there, I saw it many years ago, another must see in the Maritimes.

I am asking you all to pray for my young friend Shauna, she has been accepted by a Nashville hospital to participate in a trial drug for cancer, she does not know if she has been given the drug or a placebo. I am so praying she receives the drug and will be healed. I have never known a family like Shauna's. Her family loves her so much, her husband supports her unconditionally and her parents and siblings pray continually for her to be healed as I do. She has 2 young children my friends, 3 and 1, they need their mom as her husband needs his wife and her family needs their daughter and sister. I only know this family through my blog, but I have grown to love and respect them so much. I know you all will join me in praying for her.

Okay I have to say it, wasn't that tennis match sensational, call me crazy but I set my alarm for 4:30 am so I would not miss a hit, slam, or miss. Way to go Isner and for the record Hubut (sp) from France played very well. I have to admit I was cheering for the USA player John Isner and he won.... way to go John!
... are you ready for this.... 70 - 68 in the fifth set. It was unbelievable. God Bless America, I was so happy when he finally finished the set, I am not sure how he will play his next match but he could never top what he did today. The set took 3 days too complete and broke way too many records than I could list here. I am not sure he could match the intensity to win another match at Wimbledon.....and if he doesn't it's okay, he has done his best and something tells me his legacy will be this match. (sorry John I know you won't like this) I also love seeing the Queen at the Murray match, it has been over 30 years since she has been to Wimbledon....I mean this is on my bucket list and she has her own you think she may invite me to use her seat when she can't make, I didn't think so. Did I tell you I am a royalist, I love the Royal Family, God Save The Queen.....I so want to see a final at Wimblendon.

I am so looking forward to the weekend, I have plans to go for a drive and have a picnic with a friend, and yes Diana he is a special friend. I love doing drives and picnics, I may be widowed but I am not will never know what else I love......LOL

Have a great weekend everyone.......God Bless.......and many, many hugs.......:-)

Hey Bernie ... I'm so glad things are going well for you.

You said it took the Queen 30 years to go to Wimbledon. Are trains so slow in the UK?

Praying for you and yours.

God bless.

Denise said...

So glad you were able to get your refrigerator fixed. I will be praying for Olivia, and Shauna. I love you.

Valerie said...

First, Bernie, thank goodness the fridge is fixed. Your deck sounds great, any chance of a picture?
I was sorry to read that Olivia has Ausburger's disease, it's a blessing that she is surrounded by loving people - including yourself.
Waxed eyebrows? I am at a loss about this one...grins.
I watched the epic tennis match, Isner was so out of it physically but his mental state lacked nothing. It was one of those matches when neither player should have lost.
Have a great weekend. Hugs from me.

Anvilcloud said...

That tennis match was quite the event, and I'm glad I was able to watch as much as I did. I was relieved to see it end, however, and was happy that Isner won. I did feel badly for Mahut though.

sarah said... shine. Reading your post...the love in your heart....makes me feel good. I will post Shauna's picture on my blog too to ask for prayer for her. And we have always talked about going to visit PEI....maybe this summer....Stay safe and have a great weekened. Sarah

Wanda said...

Now you can get on with summer and enjoy the deck...and that swing. So, a picnic with someone special, have we heard of this 'someone' before, Bernie? I remember a few drives into the country!

How thoughtful that you didn't mention Olivia's disorder in your post of child needs to feel a health problem defines them, they are so easily influenced. Sherri(Alivia's mom) babysits a young girl Alivia's age that was recently diagnosed with a similar disorder. She and Alivia just visited here yesterday!

Dylan sounds like my Dylan, Bernie!
Glad you are there for them. Children so best with a constant familiar environment. I will say a prayer for the young mother, Shannon.

Your enjoyment of sports reminds me of my mother, Bernie. She would talk to the screen, rather loudly sometimes! I shold have put this in an email!

Fallon sounds like an incredible girl, Bernie, and she is incredibly lucky to have YOU in her life!

Congrats on the fridge and getting your deck decked out, it makes summer so much more enjoyable to have a nice spot to sit a spell.

Karin said...

It's a good feeling to have everything fixed again!! If I were you I'd leave the deck until early spring - you'll spare it the stress of a winter's snow on it - unless you always shovel the deck of course! You are such an inspiration - always enjoying life and people to the fullest! God bless and have a delightful week-end!

this post is "chock-full" of news of every kind, evoking every emotion - from a fixed frige and options for your deck to your niece Olivia with Asbergers and your love for Fallon and Olivia and all the joy in your heart because of them. I am a whilr wind of it all. And I am savoring the full richness of your world. :-)
And I believe it is so full and so rich in the best of ways because YOU are so loving and kind.

I am honored to be a part of your life.

Love Gail

Victor....that is funny. I usually read my post over before I publish but last night I was trying to get it finished before I went to sleep and I realized I rambled on a bit too much......enjoy your weekend my friend...:-)

Bernie said...

Denise thank you so much, have a wonderful weekend.....:-) Hugs

Bernie said...

Hi Val, I agree that math was so good and it was a shame that one had to loose, they both played so well.
Yes I will do pictures my friend, have a great weekend....:-) Hugs

Bernie said...

A/C, it was a great match and I agree I did feel bad for the Frenchman but one had to loose. It was an epic match for all the record books....:-) Hugs

Bernie said...

Sara, you will love PEI, and the play Anne of Green Gables is a must see, but I do believe they are booked many summers in advanced. Thank you or your kind words.....:-) Hugs

Bernie said...

Wanda, I have been spending time with my girls a lot lately. So much going on in their home right now but I do love my time with them. My deck looks really good considering all the work that has to be done. I gave the swing to my next door neighbour as once I put out my own wicker set there just wasn't room enough, it looked so crowded.
I wrote my post in a hurry last night and didn't check it before I posted (I was so tired) I do have a new friend in my life, will e-mail you later.....big hugs to Alivia......:-) Hugs

Bernie said...

Linda, finally everything is coming together. Today is wonderful as I don't have a lot of things that must be done.
Fallon is great, it seems when we are not together she is calling me or e-mailing. I know she will soon prefer spending time with her friends than her old "Aunt" so I hanging on and enjoying our time together before this happens.
Have a great weekend.....:-)Hugs

Bernie said...

Glen, the ole icebox is fixed, the flowers are planted and the deck is looking great.....just say'in..
...grins. Have a great weekend my friend......:-)Hugs

Bernie said...

Karin, you are right as I can't always keep up with the snow shovelling throughout our winters. I will see if I can box these contractors in early Spring, if I do it now I may have a chance to get it done before summer 2011.
Have a wonderful weekend...:-)Hugs

Bernie said...

Stillness, I do miss you when you stay away. Hope all is going well with you.
Fallon is so much fun, you would love her. Have a great weekend.

Stillness - Shauna so needs our prayers and I am praying so hard for her to be able to stay here with her family, gotta believe she can beat this cancer.....:-)Hugs

Bernie said...

Hi Gail, I think I packed in way too much, that is what happens when I was in a hurry and didn't check before I published.
Life is good and busy right now. I do hope all is going well for you my friend....have a great weekend.

So glad your refrigerator is fixed and that you didn't have to have it hauled away and go through the hassle of buying another one.
and your deck can wait, right?
Sooo, so glad you are enjoying your summer and your trips and your friends so much. You deserve it my friend!
Luv to you~!

Hey now, I didn't say a word. But now that you mentioned it I will say that you deserve a special friend and I hope you two have a wonderful time together! We all deserve someone special in our lives.
Happy to hear about the fridge Bernie, have you seen the prices on the new ones?!
You do sound excited about Fallon's visit! I suspect we won't be hearing much from you for a few days while she is there! You must post some photos Bernie.
What kind of flowers did you plant?
I will pray for your friend Bernie, it must be a scary time for her and her family.
I am going to post a great summer dessert recipe tomorrow. I'll bet you and Fallon would love this! Have a great weekend Bernie! Love Di ♥

Jackie, you have really made me feel better about Olivia. I have always felt she would find her niche in the world as we would just love her through out. She is no problem for me or her dad, she has melt downs with her mother and others but when it happens with me I just hold her, distract her and she settles right down. She brings us all much joy.
Yes everything is settling down around her and I am so thankful. It has been one thing after another lately.
Hope your mama is doing well and how is the new grandbaby....:-)Hugs

Bernie, I am so pleased you have the fridge fixed and that you have worked out plans for the patio and the basement!
Your great nieces are lovely and I am sure that you play such an important part in their lives (as I do in my grandchildren's.) They will not forget the enjoyment and stability provided by us, I am sure.
Love the sound of those pedicures!

You have so much love to give and your post is overflowing with it.I do admire you.

Very sad when such young people have to suffer cancer (in fact sad ANYONE has to) but it always seems more tragic when little children are dependant on that person. I sincerely hope that your friend gets the drug and that it saves her.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if this wretched disease could be wiped right off this planet? I pray for that day.

Lots of Love Maggie X

Whoops - I wrote you a long comment, Bernie, and it disappeared. You sound like some special plans are afoot with some special people! Have fun - will we be privy to any details?? Glad you have a working fridge again.

Joanna Jenkins said...

SEnding love and prayers Shauna's way. I hope everything works out for her and she's healthy soon.

Wouldn't it be great to have learned how to repair things like the fridge when we were in school? Talk about the money we'd have saved.

I have a child in my life with Aspergers syndrome. It can be difficult but so much is being learned about disease and progress can be made. I'm cheering your loved one on.

Hope your picnic and drive was wonderful :-)

Rebecca said...

Wow! Good news about the frig & deck - well PRETTY good news. I'm glad you're enjoying your deck this summer and that you have options for repair/replacement.

I sense your delight in our basement "cleansing" and hear the excitement and pride in your words as you relate your love and concern for your grandnieces. They are VERY blessed (and may not realize it until they look back at all of your gifts of love to them.

I know you're enjoying the expectation AND experience of the pedicure, waxing, DRIVES AND PICNICS!!!!

By the way, the tennis match really WAS something, wasn't it?

Oh what wonderful adventures you have planned! Fallon will have a great time as I am sure you will, especially on your "girls outings"! And what a wonderful surprise for her to see Taylor Swift! What a dream come true for a young girl! I will keep your friend undergoing treatments in my prayers. God Bless.

Very sweet post, Bernie, your love shines through it all!

I'm glad you're fridge is fixed and that your deck problem will be resolved too. And so nice that you got your basement cleaned out, that always feels good.
But best of all your time spent with loved ones. You really are Blessed to have such a nice relationship with Fallon and she is Blessed to have you in her life too!

So sorry to hear about Olivia, I'll keep her in my prayers. Our great-nephew (he's 6) was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome too, it is not easy to cope with a child with this disorder. It takes lots of patience.

I will be praying for Shauna and her family too that God's Will for her is the outcome we all want for her.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend, your plans sounded wonderful.
Love to you,

Hi Bernie, followed over to your blog from Raindrops (Anvil Cloud) and has a great time reading your current post about what you've been doing, etc. and Fallon's visit. You mentioned that Olivia has Asperger's Syndrome. If you enjoy reading, there's a new book "House Rules" by Jodi Picoult which though fiction is about a teenage boy with Asperger's. I'm reading it and learning a lot. I'll be checking back and invite you to drop in and visit our blog at thefrogandpenguinn. Have a wonderful time with your niece!

Love as much as you can for as long as you can. Give Olivia a kiss from an admirer.
