A Wonderful New Year Ahead - Are You Ready For It

Hello my friends, wishing you all a healthy and happy New Year. I am so looking forward to 2012. If all goes as planned I will put my condo on the market in May and will move back home to New Brunswick during the summer. I am so looking forward to living near my brothers and sister. I am blessed to have many school friends, cousins and old work friends living there as well. It's all good and going to be fun. Don't you just love life, never a dull moment. I don't like thinking about leaving my family here, it will be especially hard leaving Fallon but my plans are to fly her home at least once a year. Her dad agrees. I hope to spend winters in Florida and summers in Shediac, a beach area close to Moncton. The good Lord willing the next chapter in my life will be contented, healthy, happy and filled with love of family and friends, anyway that is my plan.

New Year's was fun, we started out watching the Canadian National Junior team play and win against the USA juniors. The score was 3-2, and it was a very entertaining game. We then had a wonderful meal, for me it was surf and turf......so good! We also had our share of martinis and of course wine with our meal. An nice cup of Tia Chi cinnamon tea followed. Great food, even greater company and wonderful entertainment made for a memorable evening and a great way to ring in a new year.

Sunday, New Year's day 3 ladies and I had a wine and pizza party. Thank heaven it didn't start until 5 o'clock.....I needed some sleep! Honestly Monday was like a professional napping day, I was exhausted. I did manage to take off the pyjamas long enough to go to Weight Watchers that evening feeling quite sure I would be over my weight allowance and have to pay but surprise, surprise I had only gained 1 pound (am allowed 2) so I have to admit I had more energy arriving home then when I left here.

Yesterday, not such a good day.....both my hockey teams lost and then I was really into the Iowa caucus on TV and my guy didn't win but he came close. As a student of foreign affairs I am not that excited about passing in my monthly paper next week. I love learning about other countries, their policies and right now the world is such an interesting place. It sure isn't perfect but it is so good, studying and learning about what is happening around the world has proven to be informative and fun. Our weekly discussions are fantastic, I enjoy them very much. Everyone has an opinion and I love when they explain their position, needless to say I don't always agree. Homework can be time consuming as we are suppose to fact check everything we say or write about. Wish me luck, I will need it to pass this course.

This morning I made the best chicken turkey soup ever and this afternoon when I came home from having my nails done the house smelled so good. I am looking forward to having my supper soon.

Our winter so far has been mild with minimal snow but we have had a bit of freezing rain. My parking lot is like a skating rink, scary really. I was frightened of falling when I went out earlier, it never did warm up enough for anything to melt and I am a bit concerned that we may get snow soon. Even a dusting of snow over that ice will be treacherous.

Have a great week everyone, sending you all big hugs..........:-)

Your New Year's Eve and New Year's Day both sounded wonderful! And your plans for the New Year sound even more wonderful! Isn't it exciting to start a new adventure?! I pray everything works out in your favor, Bernie, and that you have a very smooth move.
I can imagine that you are torn, looking forward to being near loved ones, but sad about leaving others behind. I'm sure I'll be the same when/if we ever make our move down south.

I actually hate politics (so sick of all the lies and everyone in Washington looking out only for themselves) but I was very interested in the Iowa caucus too! I'm always hopeful that there will actually one day be some real change. Hope springs eternal so we'll see.

Please be careful, Bernie, I've been thinking about you with your weather, and I was just telling Ray how you had snow storms from October to May last year!

Thanks for posting!
Love and Prayers,
Eileen

Hi Bernie so glad to see you on Blogger again. I just do not get the please of writing with FB as I do with blogging. I bet you have more of a social like than I do. For the first time in my life I don't have to go anywhere I don't want to go. Sounds kind of isolationist doesn't it but I so love to be home and busy with my own little projects. Good luck on your move and sounds like a good plan. Blessings

Wonderful and uplifting post. Do you still love me although I am a Democrat? You are a Canuck so you can't vote in the election here in the States anyway. And yes I am ready for a shiny new year! :-)

Hello Bernie! Happy to see you writing blog posts again. I'd seen a few of your comments on other blogs during the last six months, so I took that as a sign that you were okay and just breaking from writing.

I wish you well with your move and your future plans. It all sounds exciting and with promise of fulfillment.

Hugs :)

Happy New Years! Hoping you have a quick sale so you can be with family real soon. You need some cleats to walk on that ice.

Wishing you all the best in 2012 and good luck in selling your condo.
It has been quite "cold" here. Yesterday morning it was 29 degrees! Can you believe we had the heat on? It is supposed to get warmer by the weekend. (70's) Yeah!
Keep warm!
Smiles.

You've been very busy, Bernie, but enjoying it immensely, I'm sure! This morning finally, I'm back to feeling my best, after the yucky virus and all the on going holiday festivities. Just getting back into my familiar routine feels good!

I Googled Shediac...when you move there, you will definitely have to post a picture of yourself posing by the 'World's Biggest Lobster Sculpture' at Rotary Park!

Stay warm and safe...bet you pass the course with flying colors!

You are so positive and deserve the very best. I'm sure that Fallon will be pleased to fly out to see you whenever possible and it would be good to be near your siblings and friends.

So good to read your posts again, Bernie. You are so active and happy - it makes me happy, too. Where in FL will you spend winters? Bob's family (Dad and sisters) lives in Sarasota. Careful on that ice - wear good treads and walk with a flat foot - don't strike with your heel.

Your plans for the New Year and a new chapter sound wonderful! Glad to hear that you had such a great New years and are enjoying your course. Do you have spikes/ice grippers for your boots? I may try to find an old pair at the farm. Our driveway and road are like a skating rink. All the best to you for the New Year!

Hi Bernie,

i have been off of blogger--both writing and reading posts since about mid October. I am finally ready to start reading and writing. Thanks for reading and commenting on my last post.

It was great to read a few of your posts and do a little catch up. I so admire you--your positive outlook, your sense of adventure, that you are studying politics, and that you are plannining such a BIG move. Wow! Blessings on this new year. Keep us posted . . . I will be reading.

Ooh, snow. No thanks. The rain in the Willamette Valley is bad enough. Of course, Peggy would love to live where you do.

Love that curling!

Oh, it sounds like you had a lovely New Years weekend. My favorite hockey team, the Penguins is finally picking up and winning again. I wish Cosby was well enough to play but it does not seem like he is yet.

It will be so nice for you to move back closer to your brother and friends.

I am sure Fallon will enjoy her jaunts to visit you after you move.

Oh, the soup sounds good....

How in the world are you...I have been amiss in keeping up with my friends this winter with everything going on. You are such a blessing to me, I don't know why I am so lazy about answering...How rude of me.
I think about you often, and I hope life is being kind to you...
Much love, sweet friend...
