Welcome March

Dear March

The anticipation of your arrival has been met with great relief as you came in as meek as a lamb instead of a lion. When I awoke this morning the sun was shinning, the air clean and crisp and the hope you brought with you felt endless. Like an old friend I rushed to open my door to you, opened my windows so each room could feel your wonderful presence. I am so happy to see you again, it seems forever since I wrote my name next to yours.

This afternoon I spent walking on your melting snow, following the tiny rivers of water as it made its way through slopes and crevices of our sidewalks. I rushed home from an appointment so I could spend even more time with you before the sun went down. So welcome back and may you remain meek and mild for the few weeks you are here........you have not always been so pleasant to live with.

Enjoy this wonderful month of March my friends, it is a sign of so many wonderful things to come....St. Patrick's Day, Easter and oh yes......Spring.

God Bless you all.........many, many hugs:-)

  16. Good morning Bernie,
You are making me feel so good with your enthusiastic post. You seem to have a spring in your step even. I am anticipating a 50 degree weekend. It would be wonderful if this mildness lingered and the snow changed to spring rain and we could all sing...spring has sprung!
I hope your good weather lasts, Bernie and that mine has begun.
    L♥ve to you....Wanda

  17. In So. California we have some flowers in bloom most of the year. But in the springtime they are especially beautiful.

Some would say mother nature did it, but I thank God for His beautiful colorful creation.

  27. I loved the peek into your letter to March. What a comfortable connection you two share!

I also enjoyed your explanation of Canadian customs and celebrations, etc. I, for one, did not judge harshly (and would like to think the U.S. would have been granted equal grace if it had been OUR celebration).

I'm REALLY admiring your new slippers. I hope you draw much warmth and comfort from them. You deserve it!

  46. Quite a nice bit of creative writing. We don't have the nice lamb March yet. It is so cloudy and misty rain, but no wind, so I guess that is lamby. Are you still doing FB. I just don't seem to feel comfortable there. Well the sun is finally out now so I am going out for some Vitamin D. Blessings

Like you, today we had in the mid 30's F and sunny and it was gorgeous out there! I got to strap on some snowshoes and hike into the woods with my hubby to a frozen waterfalls...we had such a wonderful day and I was HOT out there because I had bundled up well...it was so wonderful to take off my hat and gloves and just breathe in that fresh air. We still have plenty of snow to melt but you can smell the promise of spring during these warm winter days...I am SO READY this year (like you) for spring to get here.
Luv to you...so glad you got out to enjoy the sunshine today too!

  60. Greetings, Bernie!
Just popped in to say thank you for visiting my blog and commenting on my Henrietta Lacks post, and I find myself intrigued by your posts.
We welcomed March with yet another snow, though, thank goodness, it did not accumulate this time, and we have 60's in the forecast for the coming weekend! Spooky the cat and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting by the fire and watching the fat flakes dance outside the window, knowing that buttercups and daisies will be pushing up out of the grass any day now!
    Have a wonderful week!

  62. Pretty post, Bernie! And I'm so looking forward to Spring also! As long a month as March is, it usually goes fast for me, we have lots of March birthdays in the family, and St. Patrick's Day thrown in among them, and the time seems to fly!
These first two days were mild for us too, melting snow, and sunshine for part of each day! No cold March winds so far.
But I keep thinking of my Mom saying "If March comes in like a lamb, she goes out like a lion!" I'm hoping she goes out quietly, just the way she came in!
    Enjoy!
    Love to you,
    Eileen
PS ~ I've been meaning to ask you if you have to shovel out your car with every snow storm or does your complex have a maintenance crew that does that for the residents?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Eileen, hi sweetie, been looking for you. My dad use to say that all the time, in like a lamb out like a lion or vice versa. All I know I am so enjoying this beautiful sunshine.
No Eileen I don't have to do any shovelling....the condo association keeps the steps, walkways and parking lot cleared of snow, they mow the lawns and all outside maintenance....I am thankful for that as I wouldn't be able to keep that up on my own.
Big hugs to Jayden and Mia....:-)
