Fun with Madison and Terry

Hello my friends, summer has finally arrived in Alberta. It has been absolutely beautiful the past couple of days.........I love the sun!

Terry came in on Wednesday as she had a doctor's appointment. We had a great day as after her appointment we went shopping, also her daughter and son in law brought a new house so she took me there to see it, it is lovely. They are moving in the end of the month and I am so excited for them. We then went to Costco, The Bay and Zellars. I had to pick up a toaster and electric kettle so the best prices were at Zellars. We also went to Ikea, oh I loved it and picked up some gadgets I didn't need but wanted. I love that store but we only go every couple of years or so.

That night after Tess and I went out for supper we were carrying my parcels in from the car and Terry missed a step up on my walk and fell down. It frightened me but she laughed so hard that I hand to laugh as well. She didn't hurt herself, it was the way she landed that was funny. I am just thankful that she didn't break any bones or any of my parcels......LOL

This is Madi and I. Madi took it and I have to laugh. I wouldn't normally let anyone see the wrinkles so up close but Madi is going to read my blog and I told her I would include our pictures.

A few months ago Madi shaved her head to raise money for cancer research, she raised almost $1000. She is so sweet but even more than that she is kind and cares about others. I bought my condo from Madi's grandparents, Pat and Dave. They have become such good friends over the years and their family has become my family. I took Madi out for lunch yesterday and we stopped into her grandparents work so she could say hello. They had sold their old business and bought a new one. It is really nice, it is a garage/car wash/corner store type of place.

Madi and I went to the movie, Karate Kid. It was a great movie, we both loved Jayden Smith......he really is a great little actor. I liked this movie even better than Shrek, The final Chapter. I think I have seen every kids movie this Spring, between nieces, great nieces and friends children I am really blessed to enjoy the company of young people, they keep me young at heart and always make me laugh.

I have been unable to find anyone who can repair my deck before the Fall. Most contractors are now doing major projects.....apparently the floor joist of the deck need to be replaced and it has been recommended that the deck come out and a new patio be poured. I am considering having this done but will have it done in the Spring not the Fall. I am just praying the deck will get me through this summer. Tomorrow is flower day, I am going to the nursery to pick up my hanging baskets, plants and flowers. I am really looking forward to this day and have been for several weeks now.......woo hoo!

Okay am off to have my bubble bath and a good night's sleep. I have enjoyed having Terry and Madison's company so much but am looking forward to getting back to my routine.

God Bless ............ and many, many hugs......:-)

Well done Maddie shaving her head for cancer research.

The photo Madison took of you both was a really nice one, Bernie. Such a sweet pretty face she has and and caring individual...to shave her head for a good cause, very commendable!

Karate Kid is definitly a movie I will watch when it comes to Direct TV. I always enjoy all the animation movies too!

I do wish we lived closer, my sons would be right there to help with the deck or patio for free, Bernie! In the long run, the patio would be less maintenance.

Take care, really glad your summer has arrived!

Hi Beautiful lady, I am so glad to see a post from you. I cannot get on to the Facebook thingie, I see your comments to folks but can't really understand the continuation of comments by folks back and forth. Guess you have to be friends with those people too.Anyway, I stay too busy on my blog to do the FB. So glad you had a great visit with the young ones. I am like you I love for them to come, and then I like my routine. It takes a little of both. Blessings

It IS refreshing, isn't it? Particularly when they are the sort of your young friend...Bernie, how could I have missed the beautiful color of your walls? I have wall-envy now!

Sorry about the news re. your patio. Go ahead and enjoy it (as it sounds like you are) anyway.

It's good to be back and in your blogging company once again.

Hi Bernie,
It was good to see that you had a new post - I always enjoy catching up with you. I thought today was going to be my flower day, too, but now it's snowing again at my house! We had about 4" on Sat that pretty much melted yesterday, and now it's coming down again! My twin grands saw Karate Kid this weekend and loved it. What wrinkles??

Glad to hear you had a great weekend but sorry that you will have to wait to get your deck repaired. It's so hard to get anything done these days. Madi,You did a beautiful thing(cutting off your hair)I commend you. Have a great week.

It sounds like you are having a great time. My daughters best friend did as Mandy did but she is a teacher who shaved her head when her cousin was losing her hair last year. She did it and went to schools to talk to young kids about cancer and the treatments her cousin was having. It was a great way to reach kids and teach them about cancer.

Ed Pilolla said...

sounds like you have had some fun. when someone takes a spill, we fear the worst, and it's a relief when they start laughing.

i get to see the little kids movies too, with my nieces and nephews. the movies for them are so well made for adults too.

a bubble bath sounds quite nice. hmmm...

First off, tell Madi what an inspiration she is. Shaving one's head takes great courage and dedication!!!

Second, I can't seem to find a handyman either... Another one is supposed to come take a look at the dratted treadmill tomorrow. We shall see how "handy" he really is ;0

Bernie, thank you for all your kind words and prayers.
Will be ringing the bell tomorrow!

What wrinkles? You're kidding aren't you?!

I believe I have that same colour of green in my house. If it isn't it's awful close!

The weather has finally improved hasn't it. It's been grey here all week and we're hoping for rain out where we raft but now it's grass cutting time. I do love how green everything looks and the lilacs finally came out and are almost gone already! I do love the smell of them.

Bernie said...

Aimes, I am getting a big head over people saying no wrinkles, trust me they are there.
We seem to be getting rain in pockets around here, rain in the city not in Morinville or vice versa. I love the green as well and yes the lilacs are wonderful.

I hope you can get your deck fixed soon! I love sitting outdoors, but with our temps hovering around 100 degrees every day, my plants have pretty much died. I do love the sun, but with these temps the only way I can stand to be outdoors is to be in the pool. Even IT has gotten uncomfortably warm.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend~

Good for Madi for shaving her head. What a worthy cause. And BTW, you have NO wrinkles!

Well, like everyone else, I saw no wrinkles, and I think Madi is one special young lady!

My daughter donated her long tresses to Locks of Love, twice in fact, but even as kind-hearted as she is, I don't think she would have SHAVED her head; Madi is a darling.

Falls must be "catching" - Fred tripped on some lumber in the basement last week, and I tripped coming UP the front stairs - we both fell flat on our faces. No serious injures, though.

I love your color scheme and the hat on the wall! I have hats on some of my lamps; such a great accessory!

Glad to hear you enjoyed Karate Kid. It was toss-up this weekend whether to see it or Toy Story3 - we ended up choosing Toy Story because of time restraints; it was TERRIFIC! Next week - Karate Kid.

As for your deck - my Fred is very handy and has built three decks completely from scratch. I would be more than happy to loan him to you. But could I perhaps persuade you to keep him for a little while - just a short time, maybe...3 or 4 months? Longer if you'd like. He doesn't require expensive food and is completely housebroken.

Bernie said...

Janine, I am fine sweetie. Love that you were thinking of me. Have a great week.......:-) Hugs

Bernie said...

Miss EthelMayPotter....okay sweetie send him over as long as he is housebroken and can buld me a new deck.....I'll even cook for him and wash his clothes....LOL
