Alberta in May

Hello my friends,

Just a few photos to show you what I woke up to this morning. It is still snowing lightly but what is really bad is the wind which is gusting sometimes to 80 kms an hour causing blowing snow, white outs and making the highways very treacherous. There are many accidents happening and unfortunately a family riding in their truck has slid into a train and all have been killed.

It seems we have about 8 months of winter here in Alberta then Spring, Summer and Fall fight over the other 4 months.

I have a lovely fire in the fireplace, a cup of French Vanilla Coffee and am waiting for my movie to come on soon. It is warm and cozy inside.

Stay safe and warm my friends and if you are living in a stormy area please stay home and off the roads unless it is absolutely necessary to go out.

God Bless.........many, many hugs.......:-)

Those photos are awesome! Brrrrr!

We're 85 and sunny here in northwest Georgia. Already too hot for my taste, unless sitting in the shade or in the air conditioning!

Such irony...the beauty of snow, yet how treacherous is can be.
I guess you have to be born there to be used to having so much cold weather.
Take care. xoxo :)

Oh Bernie, that looks sooo cold outside! But, I sure do love how you mentioned that you have a nice warm fire going in your fireplace and that you have a hot cup of French Vanilla Coffee.. Now that sounds real good to me! Wish we lived closer! I love to see a fireplace going while drinking my favorite hot drink too! I don't have a fireplace in this home I now live in, and really do miss not having one! They just add that coziness and warmth touch to one's home I think!

Thank you so much for all your kind words, prayers, and for visiting with me on my blog! You are so sweet!

Take care and stay warm now!

Blessings,
~Lynn

Oh my goodness! It's beautiful.
I know that it is always snowing somewhere in the world...but you are not that far from us here in the USA...and to see that beautiful snow is refreshing to me.
It's hot here...90's already.
Enjoy your warm coffee, fireplace and your movie. Sounds heavenly, Bernie...

I couldn't believe it till I saw the pictures! Beautiful but ...who wants snow in May? Still, watching a movie near a warm fire with Vanilla Coffee in your hand sounds delightful - wish I could join
you :)

Thank you for your comment about my healing, Bernie. I will pray for you, I know pain can wear people down. Hugs to you my friend.

Wow - I can't believe you are still having snow - I thought it was just us in Scotland who got bad weather!! Brrrrrrrr!!! Spring is long overdue, bet you can't wait to see the back of the white stuff!! I hope you have a terrific summer to make up for it :)

Hi Bernie, I ran across your blog from the other Bernie (Old?Who?Me?)Boy, I'm sorry to see that snow, however you sound safe and cozy and I'm sure spring hasn't forgotten you! Nice blog and I hope you can go on the Alaska cruise. I did in 2007...it was awesome!

Love this spring blizzard! The snow sinks into the ground much slower than as if it had all been rain. That's a great nourish for the soil.

So sad though about the family and everyone getting killed in that accident.

Just came home from a funeral and they are still heading out to the cemetery in all this slush.

Glad you are home and safe. Blessings!

Bernie, we had the exact same thing, I have not listened to the news, I had not heard about the roads. my hubby has a long drive home tonight after work. stay safe in your house, There will be sad stories I am sure. We don't seem to have the wind you do. hugs to you my friend. stay by your fire. take care.

Oh my goodness Bernie, I really love winter but it seems to drag on a bit there! Still it is a beautiful sight.
Such a sad accident for that family. I am glad that you are home safe and warm with some good coffee and a movie to watch.

My day was so opposite of yours. I started out feeling down again. So I picked myself up, grabbed my radio and some good CD'S and went out in the yard. I stayed there for four and a half hours, reading, weeding, and barbecuing.

It was sunny and in the upper 70's or maybe even lower 80's. It was just the right medicine to cure my doldrums!

Although I do love your way too!

Love Di ♥

Oh, my...I can hardly imagine it! We are having muggy, Spring weather...thunderstorms...I am so sorry it is so cold and snowy for you, and pray you stay safe and warm. But while I wouldn't want to share your weather, I'd love to share a Vanilla coffee and a heart-to-heart visit by your cozy fire! Love you so much, dear friend ~Janine XO

Beautiful to look at Bernie, but not what you really want to see, is it?.
It has gone really cold again here as well. Just like winter, which is very disappointing after the sunshine.
Enjoy your movies. That is all you can do. Keep warm , my friend.

Ah yes! Looks very familiar!

I had a friend from Florida tell me she has 94F today. (I wanted to swat her)!

Just imagine how green our grass will be when this is gone. We'll have to drag out the lawn mower for sure.

I'm thinking that a snowmobile with a mowing attachment is what is needed in this province!

it just blows my mind to think snow...its 70 degrees out and abou thte perfect spring day...a fire and coffee sounds nice though. stay warm. smiles.

Oh, Bernie, I just came from Teresa's and saw her beautiful snow pictures too, but doesn't Canada know it's Spring?!
I just can't get over how Winter hangs on for so long! I'm thinking of the beautiful pictures you posted of your big, blossoming hanging plants, and with seeing all this snow in May it doesn't seem possible that a few weeks from now you'll be posting Summer!

You day does sound nice and cozy! In weather like that there really is no place like home!
Love to you,
Eileen

Oh Bernie, I know it is part of nature and there is a rhyme and a reason for it, but my gosh, that snow is a lil' bit depressing, coming in the very merry month of May! I hope you stay warm and safe. I feel bad about complaining today about the heat we have....

The Retired One said...

Oh Bernie, I am SO SORRY!!!! It is just uncomprehensible that you are getting that much snow in May. I can relate though, because the U.P. has has that happen before..and then a few days later, it turned in the 70's! At least I hope it does not last long there for you. The baby is doing better and if all goes well and God smiles on us, he can come home late tomorrow afternoon. So, if that happens, we will start our long trip home to Michigan on Friday morning.
Stay smiling, I will try and send some Florida sunshine your way tonight via the stars.

Wanda..... said...

Just look at the snow against your door, I think you are snowed in Bernie:) It's pretty, but best to stay in and enjoy the fire. I gather it's not too unusual then for it to snow in May. Barb has snow in the mountains too I think, so you and Teresa are not alone!

Hello Bernie
Now you'd better have a word with someone about that white stuff as I'll be in the near vicinty (as they say)in late Septemebr and it better not be around then lol
Seriously it does look rather cold and not what you want or need after being sick the way you were.
Thanks for dropping in over the month of April - also for your lovely comments. They made me realise others were reading and not just the A-Zers - remind me to think long and hard when something like that comes up again lol
autumn heere means some of our days will be warm andothers quite cool. Its trying to rain outside and is down to about 15c witha decided nip in the air meaning overnight is going to be rather cold (well probably mild to you after seeing the pictures you just posted)
Take care
Cathy

Hi Bernie, I'm in Denver right now, so I could run through the park this morning. However, it has been steadily snowing in the Mountains. We are leaving for Breckenridge Sunday after Brunch - after a couple days in the snow, we're heading to warmer climes for the rest of May. Your photos of the snow are beautiful - a calm, white world. Stay warm and safe, Bernie!

I remember snow in May - in Denver. Blanketed everything and seemed to extend a never ending winter. How sad for the family in the car, but you have found beauty in your photos.

Looks like the trees will survive. I'm worried about my new tomato crop. Already 90 degrees the past two days. Need my blossoms to set. My never ending tomato war. Trying to keep my air off as long as possible. Lower bills and windows open.

Stay warm.
