What a Difference a Phone Call Can Make

Dear Friends,

Today began ......... not great! First it was snowing, the wind was brutal and it really was cold. Then someone I love very much misused my trust and of course having my feelings hurt didn't help my mood very much. It has just been one of those weeks. You know one of those times that anything that could possibly go wrong....did....yes that has been my week.... until tonight. Tonight my friend Annie called and we talked and laughed for over an hour. Annie lives in Nova Scotia, like me she is retired and is really enjoying this time of her life. She is so funny, and always can find something good in any situation no matter how bad it may seem. I really needed an "Annie" call tonight.

Meet Annie, this picture was taken when I was home last summer. She always comes to New Brunswick when Terry and I go home......she wants to see how much weight we have gained during the year.....LOL (I know she is reading this) Annie and I became friends in Grade 8, and have been friends ever since, in fact Annie and I are just two of a group of old school friends who I am happy to say are still friends after almost 50 years. You can think it if you want but we don't feel old at all. We have too much fun....her husband will attest to that as he was laughing very hard just hearing us laugh so hard on the phone tonight.

Here are 5 things about my closest friends you just may not know;

1. They love God, Nature and each other
2. They are loyal, loving, caring
3. They love to laugh and do so often especially when sharing a bottle of wine
4. They love Sports especially Golf
5. They are always there for each other, will travel many miles in any circumstance to help and support one another (we have done this many times for one another)

I have to say when Annie and I finished our phone call the world seemed like a brighter and better place, yes my world had been made right again. It is amazing just how much joy a phone call can bring, and turn a bad week into the best week ever.

I wish you all a wonderful friend like our Annie, especially when having a rough week as I had.

Good Night, God Bless.........and many, many hugs :-)

I'm sorry you had a bad time before the phone call, Bernie. Thank goodness for friendship, especially with someone like Annie, who sounds pretty wonderful. Sorry too about the snow. Have a brilliant day and weekend. Hugs from me, another friend.

Well truthfully Bernie my closest friend is Jake. I do have other friends but none compare to his devotion. My blogger friends have been closer to me than people that I've met here. But it's all good as I have found that I am my own best friend! And I often talk to myself as well! After the week you had it sounds like I would have done a lot of talking to myself! LOL!
I am very happy that Annie was there for you when you needed her to be. There is no better cure for anything than some hysterical fits of laughter!!! Love Di ♥

Hello Bernie
I love getting phone calls and as our phone bill will attest I love making them as well lol
With regards to our going away and the garden - we tend to go away during our winter so I prune everything quite hard shortly before we leave and then as it warms up they start to grow again ready to greet us when we arrive home.
We tend to go to other places that are warmer than here during our winter and I certainly won't go overseas during our summer (last quarter of the year/first quarter of the new year) as it is usually too cold for me at that time in the Northern Hemisphere. Having said that there have been times when the winter here in Melbourne has been warmer than the weather in the place we have been holidaying where its supposed to be summer:))
Take care
Cathy

It would really be nice to have a friend that you shared friendship with for a long time, it's rare to find a relationship like that.

I'm sorry your day started off badly but it sounds like you have GREAT friends and that is a blessing for sure. We all need an "Annie" in our lives to help us put things into perspective or just make us laugh.

Hope today is better for you.

HI BERNIE-
50 years!! Such a tribute to you and her and loyalty. I am overwhelmed. I was sad to hear that a friend misused your trust - I wonder what was going on with her that such an act of betrayal made sense. huh.

ANd Ilove how Annie called and all was right with the world again. The miracle Bernie is that you were open to it - many would have stayed stuck in the hurt and missed the love waiting just around the bend. Amazing. :-) You inspire me.

Love to you my dear friend
Gail
peace.....

I am so sorry to hear about a friend that betrayed your trust...that is the worst hurt ever...and I could never like this person who took advantage of your sweet nature and kind heart. You need to remove them from your life, Bernie and surround yourself more with the kind of friend you described in your post...she sounds nurturing, sweet and kind.
You deserve no less!!!
My thoughts and hugs are with you like always!

Hi Bernie. Gosh you brought tears to my eyes today. But also a smile as I remembered my school days. I envy your longtime relationship with Annie. I lost touch with my school days best friend. I wish her well and hope she is happy in her life. I hope your uplifting 'phone call gives you some hope that things can get better. Betrayal of trust is a hard thing to cope with. I hope you can mend the friendship you had with the person who hurt you so much. <3 Mar.

Oh Bernie Sweetie...
I am so sorry that someone was so unkind to you. Sometimes I wonder where these people come from.

I am so tickled that God sent Annie to the phone tonight. He knew you needed an angel and he sent you one. You both look precious in your picture.

No unfortunately my problem has not been solved with my comments on my dashboard. I had them marked where I publish or reject them because some nasty things have been showing up on my blog. The only way I could see my comments was to make them open again. I pray that the anonymous stay off with their nasty comments, as I so want to see who is commenting to me. I will keep checking each day to see if it is back on my dashboard, but for now this will work.

Please know that you so touch my heart each and every time you stop by and I love you so sweetie. Thank you for calling me friend. Country hugs and so much love, Sherry
