No Resolution To Loose Weight This Year

Happy New Year my friends, I wish you all love, joy, happiness and good health in 2010. I want to take this opportunity to say how much you have enriched my life with your words of wisdom, encouragement, support and prayers. I found myself laughing, crying, happy and sad as we shared our stories and our lives with each other during 2009. All of you have been such a blessing. I am very much looking forward to sharing 2010 together.

Every year I make a resolution to loose weight and exercise more.....Not This Year. It's the same, same, same.......Instead I am going to learn to "Appreciate" (my word for 2010 thanks to Dani) each day and whatever it holds for me. I am going to appreciate all that I can do, and not worry about what I am unable too, I am going to show my appreciation in every way I can. I want to continue to forgive, love and laugh easily. Goals I have made and met before and by doing so has made my life much fuller/brighter so next it's "Appreciation"......my life has been so blessed in so many ways now it's time for me to show my appreciation for all that I am and all I hope to be.

Tonight I am bringing in the New Year with 2 friends....we are going to see the movie Avatar and having dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant. Tomorrow I am going to Mass then watching football all day as I cook a ham and vegetables for dinner which I am going to serve with a good bottle of Champagne....yummmmmm! Now that will be easy to appreciate, don't ya think?

I am looking forward to getting back to my normal routine. "It was good while it lasted now I'm past it". I want my house back to normal and I am ready for some quiet time. I want to begin a novel I had purchased before Christmas and one that I received for Christmas....it is going to be so nice to enjoy a fresh new start to a wonderful New Year, new decade really and all the challenges and greatness that it holds for all of us.

Happy New Year and God Bless..........:-) Hugs

Beautiful resolution!
And I found a nice site through Rebecca too with some more beautiful spiritual thoughts and goals for the New Year.

I haven't made resolutions for years now because I usually end up breaking them all in a matter of weeks! But I am going to give it one more try this year, but more to motivate myself to health if possible.

Loved this post, Bernie!
Loved this blog and all you've shared this past year!

New Year Blessings to you!
Love to you, Eileen

I am not making any new resolutions either this year. I weigh the same now as I did this time last year. I am going to be grateful, as you suggest, that I do not weigh more. It is too disappointing to make resolutions and not live up to them. I am already doing the best I can. I am going to be grateful to be doing the best I can. As Thomas Merton says, "I believe that pleases God a lot." or something like that. I am so grateful to have met you and look forward to a new year of learning and living.

I have heard from friends that Avatar is a good movie....haven't seen it, but can't wait to hear from you how it was.
The most important thing from me to you at this moment as I type to you, my dear friend is for you to know how much you mean to me...and to countless other people who have been VERY blessed to get to know you. May your new year be blessed, my friend.
I hug you warmly...

What a wonderful goal to have...I like the idea of being more appreciative...it makes you more aware of how even the "little" things in life give us joy...the same as when I started doing photography...it really opens your eyes to little things around you every day that are breathtakingly beautiful.
Good news! I FINALLY got my computer back late yesterday and so far, so good. Looks like all the old photos were backed up and I finally downloaded all my Florida pictures a few hours ago. I haven't had a chance to really look at them or to edit them in any way, but they are ok and safe and on the computer in the external hard drive. (Thankyou Lord!). He did say that we probably should look at getting a new hard drive or a new computer over the next year or so, but I will be keeping ALL of my new photos on the new, larger external hard drive from now on.
So, stay tuned for the vacation pictures coming soon and also get ready for the photo contest..I hope you consider joining in on the fun and submitting some photos...you see life so beautifully, I just know you would be able to capture some really neat photos!
Take care..so sorry your bones have been giving you grief.
I am glad to hear you plan on taking it easy and bundling up and reading by your fire over the next few days..sounds like the perfect plan to me! ha
Guess what I have on right now?
Yup, you guessed it....my wonderful Snuggie which I will always think of as a hug from Bernie everytime I put it on....
Love to you and sending you hopes for your happiest year EVER in 2010.
You are so loved....

I,like you, normally vow to lose weight. I did lose 15 pounds this year - with my youngest nagging all the way, God love him..and I've kept it off. I hope I lose another 15 but I'm not killing myself to do it. I've got the treadmill in my bedroom and I've told Jeremy I will TRY to use it for more than a clothes rack...but no promises.

I'm staying home tonight alone, with a couple of Netflix movies and a really good bottle of chardonnay. That's fine with me. I would rather be on a cruise, of course, but you know the financial situation. I won't lament, though.

Happy New Year, dear Bernie!!!

This is a wonderful resolution you have made. I too always think that by saying this year I will lose some weight, and it never happens. Instead then I too will 'appreciate' that I am able to have enough food to satisfy, and more besides.
I am so grateful for being able to follow your blog and share your life; you are an inspiration.
God's Blessings to you dear Bernie.

"we shared our stories and our lives with each other"...that is my favorite part of the whole blogging adventure, and I've so enjoyed that with you. Your posts and your comments have been much appreciated and an inspiration. I don't think I've run across another person quite like you, Bernie, so positive, giving, and good hearted despite all that you have been thru with your losses and your health.

Good morning Bernie...It makes me feel so good to start my first morning of the new year with you, although it is later in the morning than usual. I was up until 1:30!
I don't make resolutions, but I do find myself thinking deeply this morning about "time"...and what I should be doing with it.
We had a quiet evening with family...movie, music, food and wine...saw the new year in with Alivia telling cute jokes.
Woke up to snow flurries and a stray cat sleeping on my doormat!

Hope you have abundant blessings come to you and find great joy and satisfaction in all you do this year Bernie!
Love,
Wanda

Your resolution is wonderful. Your day sounds splendid. Would love to know what novel you're beginning. I don't do literal resolutions either, but write down intentions (as I call them). One is to read a bit more fiction than I did this year. I'm kind of picky about what I read, so sometimes get discouraged in trying to select the "perfect" book to read....

May health and happiness surround you in 2010, Bernie. I look forward to many, many visits with you via blogging!

Wanda, and I love starting my mornings with your comments. Alivia stayed awake until midnight....I barely did and crawled into bed around 1, did a big of blogging but wasn't long falling asleep. I need more sleep but have company coming over for dinner....tomorrow I will some rest as this old body is beginning to break down. Don't you find that time goes by so much faster as we get older....I know I do and I want to enjoy every moment....big Hugs to Alivia.......:-) Hugs

Dear Bernie, I think appreciation is a wonderful focus for 2010! Appreciation is the foundation for all kinds of wonderful discoveries and adventures. We plan to head back to the mountains tomorrow after spending the Holidays in the city. I'm excited to be there again enjoying the outdoors and getting some exercise. I've read 3 books the past 3 days, plus Bob and I have gone to 2 movies. Time to get off the couch! Stay well, Bernie - I look forward to your posts in 2010.

Hi Bernie,
So glad you had a wonderful start to the New Year, and wasn't it cold!!! BRRRRRRRRRRR!

My son wants me to go see AVATAR with him, however, I have no desire, but now that I hear what you have to say about it, I may rethink it.

Today Tracy and I went to see "It's Complicated" and we both laughed and cried and completely enjoyed it. I love Merle Streep and I also love Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin...if you get a chance go see it!!!

Hope you have a Wonderful 2010! (((HUGS)))) T

Thank you, Bernie, for dropping by my blog (from Jinksy's) and leaving a nice comment.

Your New Year's resolution to "appreciate" is wonderful. I haven't yet made any resolutions (they are SO easy to break), but appreciation and gratitude are two I think I should adopt, and keep.

I'll be back to read more of your blog. Happy New Year!

I am praying that this will be a year that I seek Him more and find Him in greater abundance.

Love to you Bernie - you have a great blog!

I too am not making any resolutions. I always break them or forget them and that starts the guilt going! I like your attitude, I think by taking baby steps each day I will do a better job all way around! And appreciate is a great word and an equally wonderful thought to behold! Happy New Year!

Hi Pat, thanks for stopping by. No I have no resolutions this year, but a new word to focus on each day and it has never been a problem for me.....I like to meditate on my word a few times a day even if it's for a few seconds each time.....it really works. Have a great day......:-) Hugs

Beth, the more you seek the more more you will find, may you know a beautiful abundance this year and always......:-) Hugs

Janine, thank you, your words are so kind. I do find it very easy to love people, I truly do. Hi Bernie,
Happy New Year to you! Just catching up with you. We were away for the whole holiday season. We had a wonderful time just resting and relaxing. We saw Avtar also. I enjoyed it. We also saw It's Complicated.
I used to make resolutions, but I never kept them, but I did think about how grateful I am that this year has brought me much happiness and beauty.
Take care,

Hi Bernie. I'm still catching up with all my friends blogposts. I read the last two of yours. I love the description on your little cutiepies. I think you're on the right track as far as resolutions/noresolutions goes. It's good to know yourself and not give gratutious "guilt trips" to yourself. I liked your suggestion to me to start with 15 mins for the first week and then up the time by 5 min. the next.
Thanks <3 Mar.

Bernie,
You know what? Every year since I had my daughter I was determined to lose weight and never did. I finally lost weight when I stopped trying and stopped thinking about it :) To be honest, it hasn't made me happier, nor has it made me less happy, so I guess it never really mattered in the first place :)

Appreciate is a wonderful word and I love the resulation. It is one we should all keep. I do weigh some less then I did last year but it has nothing to do with a resolution I made at that time. I really have not made any for a good many years.

Dani, you are so thoughtful. If you can link it please do. I love mediatng on my "appreciate" word, if only for a few seconds a day.

I join you in your resolution. I've never made any resolution, but if I had to make one, it'd sound just like yours :D I totally agree with your thinking. Being appreciative works in our favor ultimately!

Avatar is a huge hit here in India. How did you find it? I haven't seen it yet, but was fascinated with the idea that James Cameron used a Hindi word (meaning a reincarnation or alter ego) as his movie title :D

Bernie said...

Stillness it is much more fun to choose a word to meditate on every day rather than a resolution. I am appreciating feeling better today my friend......:-) Hugs
