No Longer A Mystery

This beautiful Rose left in my mail box the other day was from a very kind neighbour. She had stopped in to say hello and since I was away decided to leave it for me. She stopped over this evening for coffee and giggled when she realized she hadn't put her name on it, just the note. It was so nice to visit with her.

We have been having record breaking heat this week, our days have been very hot. September has been much nicer than July or August.....it is all about to end and that's okay. It was nice while it lasted/Now I'm past it.......(a line in a song I think) Our evenings have been cooler and by mornings everything is covered with dew. It is getting darker so much earlier, and I find I have to turn my lights on by 6:15.....not long ago I was reading on my deck without any lights at 10pm.

I had an early morning call this morning to babysit. The baby was sick and here in Alberta you cannot drop a baby with a temperature off at the day care centre. I think it is a good rule, as a sick baby needs much love and attention, one on one time which is hard to provide with so many other children. I held him in my arms most of the day and he slept. I would place him in his crib and he would stay asleep for a short time but only wanted to be held.....it was my pleasure. He was so good and all he wanted was to be cuddled. His father arrived home earlier than expected and I was happy to see him, I was looking forward to my own quiet home and sleeping in my own bed. Needless to say I am tired tonight but my arm is not bad at all. I am not having fun on this antibiotic though, how can something that makes one feel so bad be good for us......ah the cure is worse than the illness for sure. Anyway this one is just for 7 days and not 10 as the last one was.

I did spend time on a computer today, a short time and only a few minutes at a time. It felt strange to me, I am so comfortable on my own computers, strange eh as the keyboards are the same but I had a bit of a struggle.

Good Night and God Bless, am sending all of you many, many hugs........:-)

What a kind neighbour you have, Bernie. It was a lovely thought to give you the rose. Read about your day, it must be real nice to have some baby time. Here in UK we are having an Indian summer, very similar to your weather and the same exquisite morning dew. Spiders webs sparkle like jewels.

Cuddles are always the best medicine for a fractious youngster...Perhaps we should do the same for grownups occasionally?! :)

Good morning Bernie...nice to have the mystery solved! It's getting cooler here too. For two evenings now, as I sat at the computer, I have heard Canadian Geese flying over the house heading north to you and Teresa ...here this morning it will stay dark out till about 7:30...and we've had a drizzling rain for 2 days now, feels just like Autumn!

I guess the antibiotics haven't left you feeling quite as bad as the last time right...or you couldn't have babysat. I wonder if daycare is as expensive there as it is here...

Have a wonderful weekend Bernie...

Smiles always,
Wanda

Beautiful rose - beautiful carving on your table! It was kind of you to agree to babysit. I can imagine your pleasure at being back in the comfort of your own home.

It's been overcast here the past few days - but like there we're seeing it dark longer in the mornings & earlier in the evenings - and cool evenings that take the edge off the humidity and warmth of the days....

It has been fine weather to take my 30 minute walk and perfect weather to enjoy the chili I made yesterday. Blessings on your Friday, Bernie. May good health and energy be your companion today.

Bernie, you are such a good soul! Nice of you to step in at a moments notice when there is a need!

And I agree that it's a wonderful feeling to just sit and hold a baby! That's got to be one of the most satisfying feelings in the world. I was content to spend more than half my days with a sleeping baby's head resting on my chest. Both my own kids and the grandkids. Seriously, some of the nicest memories I have in my life!

Another nice day you had, Bernie! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hope the antibiotics don't do too much havoc on your body!
Feel good.
Love you, Eileen

Oh Bernie again this brought back memories of the hours of holding the sick babies! They are so sweet but I remember the sore and shaky arms! Glad you weren't sore.
So sorry about the antibiotic reaction, it can be horrible. Jake seems to be more sensitive to them than me and Kate. A few more days and you'll be done!
It's to bad that your mystery is over Bernie. I was hoping you would have more time to wonder about about it! But you are a very sweet woman and the rose found the perfect person to cheer up!
Love Di

HI BERNIE-
I could just see you holding that baby - providing such healing love and comfort. :-)
And now it is time to give yourself the same - whatever comforts you, do.

Love and peace and healing

I hope that you feel better soon. Take good care of you Bernie. Loads of love to you

Those antibiotics ARE sometimes worse than what they are attacking...and I hope that you will be feeling better soon. Please, take care of you.
Your neighbor was so sweet to leave the rose. Tell her that she took the mystery out....and we (I) saome some goooooood stories going on in my mind! :)))
She's a sweetie...and gave the rose to a sweetheart.

Bernie how nice to have a baby to care for on a short term basis. I used to get to do that but my grands are all too big now. Maybe I should check around and make myself available for sick children that cannot go to the day care. I would love to have a little extra income and the pleasure of a little tyke.

Wanda, hello my friend. I have just e-mailed you.
Day care here (at least for this baby) is $75.00 a day...I honestly don't know how parents can afford to work!
Antibiotics are still pretty rough, will get through them though, just really tired of having to take them. Luv ya...:-)

Di, I knew whoever left the rose would soon let me know, it has happened before. She is a lovely friend and neighbour.
I am still sensitive to the antibiotics Di, I hardly ever had to take them before these past few months.....hopefully when these are done I won't need them anymore.
Have a great weekend......:-) Hugs

QMM, the time I had with the baby was precious, I never thought to charge anything, I only wanted to help the family out.
There are many babies that could use your loving arms QMM, I am sure with all your love and experience you will have no problem finding little ones to babysit. I think it would be very rewarding........:-) Hugs

Hi Bernie,
Glad you found out who sent you the rose. In reading back I see you had lunch with Coleen and Aviniash, (I really did not know Barb that well) how are they all doing? I have thought of Coleen many times and wondered how things were with her. I am so glad you all got together.

It was also nice that you were able to help out your neighbor and hold a baby for a day : ). How old is he? It is so comforting to hold a small child in your arms.

((((HUGS)))) T

That baby found the EXACT set of arms and lap to be cuddled in! How nice of you to hold him so long. His parents are very lucky to have you available.

About the rose: I was SURE you had a secret admirer! But it was nice of your neighbor to give you one..it sure looks pretty and I hope you are loving its fragrance in your house.
Our fall has been gorgeous too...the temps have been in 70's and high 60's still but it takes until about 3pm to really get that warm. Nights are in the 40's. But it will all end abruptly probably within the next two weeks here too.
Sigh. I embrace each nice day as I love the autumn color and smells.
