Friendship

Hello my friends, well I had planned on a quiet in house day today but although I didn't stay in, I still had a beautiful day with a good friend.

The day started out sunny but cool. Autumn was absolutely felt in the crisp air this morning. I immediately thought of Terri as her son was to be married today and I hoped that the day would stay sunny if just for the wedding....I think it did. The sky turned dark around 4:30, the air stayed cool but it was a glorious day for a wedding.....I hope it was the same in the city.

I had a phone call from a good friend who had an errand to do and asked if I would like to go along for the drive.....He would be here in an hour, just enough time for me to have a shower and be ready.....I said, I would love to go along.

We had to drive to Lloydminster, SK, my friend agreed to take our time, as we had the full day ahead of us. I like days like this, not being rushed just able to enjoy.
We stopped at a Farmer's stand along the road and I bought some fresh fruits and vegetables. I bought some cherries, blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. They look so lush and colorful they made my mouth water. I will have to put some in the freezer as I won't be able to eat them all before they start to turn. I also purchased cucumbers, tiny potatoes, green/yellow beans and squash. Most of these went into bins on the landing going to the basement. Oh, I love the fresh fruits and vegetables that come straight from a garden and these came from an organic garden, even better.

We stopped for lunch at a truck stop diner and I had homemade vegetable soup with rhubarb pie for desert. I'm still eating soft foods and believe me the pie crust was soft and flaky....would of love ice cream or whipped cream with it but knew I shouldn't so I enjoyed what I could have.

When we reached Lloydminster my friend dropped me at a Craft Sale and he went on to do the business which the trip was all about. We were near an Indian reservation so many of the crafts were made by the natives and some were very beautiful. I picked up many stocking stuffer's (hairbands, hair clips, games, lotions and homemade soaps) and two beautiful crochet scarves to give as Christmas gifts.

We stopped at a really nice restaurant in Bonnyville for supper and I was starving. I wanted so much to have some real food and I did. The mashed potatoes tasted like a bit of heaven, it has been several weeks since I had potatoes (or it feels like it anyway) I also had asparagus (my favorite vegetable) and salmon. It was so good and I gave thanks for the delicious food and good company.

We arrived home around 9 and after putting my shopping away, I headed for bed. I am exhausted but happy. Glad to be home and looking forward to my in house quiet day tomorrow......after I go to Mass. I have just heard the roar of thunder, the rain has already started, it sounds cozy as it beats on the patio below my bedroom window. I will sleep very well tonight.

Good Night my friends and God Bless...........Many Hugs :-)

The account of your day felt as if I was with you to witness all that. I am glad you had a nice day and more importantly, I am happy that the pain doesn't prevent you from eating normal food. It shall get better really soon. I'd pray for that!

Good morning Bernie...
You may have ended up very tired...but it was a good tired I'm sure...What a good day you had, a drive with a friend, buying fresh produce from a farmer, stopping at a craft sale and eating out! I know the best part was sharing it with a friend.

I remember too, that you buy for Christmas all through the year.

Enjoy your quiet Sunday after Mass Bernie!

Sounds like a great day Bernie, we had visitors stop by unexpectedly in the afternoon, so it was a nice surprise. Have a great and peaceful Sunday. Take care.

Oh it sounds like such a perfect day, Bernie! And especially so because it was a surprise perfect day!
And it sounds like the type of day I would love too!
I really enjoy craft sales, especially those tied to any ethnic background. We have a Swedish Fair we go to each year and that will be coming up soon, I'm so looking forward to it.
I've been to a few Native American fairs and their handiwork is amazing!

'Glad you've been spending a nice few days, Bernie! And glad you could eat again!
I love coming here and hearing about your day!
Love, Eileen

Good Morning Bernie,
It's so nice when you have an unplanned day that turns out so pleasant! Those are the best days! Today is Jakes last day at home and we have so many things to get done before he leaves and Katie starts her first full week of school tomorrow. Then I get the house to myself! I have many projects in mind! Is your jaw feeling normal again? Love Di

Good morning Wanda, it was a nice day yesterday. I do buy Christmas gifts throughout the year and usually wrap and label as soon as I do then put them in my gift cupboard. I always find it easier than rushing around in December, I do leave some to do though, just to enjoy the Christmas Spirit.
I am going to rest today, I even plan on turning my phone off when I get back from Church.
Have a wonderful Sunday my friend,
Luv ya......:-) Hugs

Hi Di, oh Jake's week has gone by fast hasn't it. I am sure you are looking forward to getting back to your normal routine and I hope Katie enjoys her new term.
My mouth is getting better, swelling almost gone and with a bit of make up I can cover the fading bruise. On the mend now for sure.
Have a great Sunday Di but don't over do it.......:-) Hugs

Hi Gail, I always find the unplanned days are fun. I still have to put some fruit in the freezer. I use "Green Bags" which keeps everything fresh a bit longer but I have way too much food in right now, I don't want any to go bad and fresh berries in the winter will taste great.
Contentment....always, I am blessed my friend....:-) Hugs

I felt healthier just hearing about all that food direct from the growers, etc.! What a blessing to have organic sources, readily available produce, and resources to buy it!

Sounds like another wonderful day you had! And I am glad your jaw is cooperating enough to let you enjoy a scrumptious salmon dinner too.
I love those unrushed days where you can meander about.
I smell autumn in the air here, too. Seems like just yesterday we were blogging about spring being here.

Bernie said...

Hi Rebecca, absolutely, sometimes we tend to take so much for granted then when we take a step back and realize how blessed we are it becomes a "aha" moment. I am very thankful.....:-) hugs

Hi Joan, if it were you I'm sure would of remembered to take your camera....I got to remember to leave it by the front door instead of in my computer room. I could of taken so many pictures yesterday.
Happy to say my jaw is much better, and I so enjoyed my dinner last night.
I don't know about where you are Joan but we really haven't had much of a summer here at all....way to short this year.
Have a great day.....:-) Hugs

Just realized I had not joined in your followers list. Thanks for your kind comments on my blog. I am glad your jaw is better. I have arthritis in my jaws too. You can have it in any joint. I also have TMJ Tempromandibular Joint disease. I have read some of the same books as you.

It sounds as though you had a lovely day with your friend. I love it when old friends drop in like that. Some of mine are gone now but the ones who are still around are precious indeed. I felt like I was with you on that trip and loved every second of it.
